Hi! New to the community aspect of MFP. Been tracking via MFP on and off for (*gulp*) 10 years. Three years ago, I used CBT, Habit-stacking, and community to overcome a poor relationship with alcohol. I am going to address my emotional food issues using a similar approach. I canβt believe I overlooked the community benefits of MFP for so long.

11/1- 145.4This is my birthday month and its a big one. I hit the big 50 on Sunday. Lots of self reflection and pausing to see the progress I made over the last year and a half. It hasn't been easy but I am grateful for the experiences of pushing myself and attaining a goal I set a while back at the beginning. That goal was to not hit my 50th feeling and looking like I did at the time. I am feeling much more comfortable in my own skin then I once did and have built some solid new habits that I plan to stick to. My focus now is all about anti-aging. From the skincare to the food to the exercise. As a gift to myself I officially start the new group strength class on Tuesday I was supposed to start in October but given all the health challenges I had to delay.

Hi, lifetime WW member. I track here and on WW because hubby only uses myfitnesspal. I am 25 lbs over ideal goal.
my goal for the month is to say no to alcohol during the week, or better yet. altogether for November. I have been working hard since May and I've lost 18 lbs but thinking about being a little more strict to make some more measurable progress before Christmas. I'd like to lose 10lbs this month. Anyone try Southbeach? I really like carbs. Lol. I eat oats almost every morning.2 -
@HappyDonkey75 Happy Birthday to you!!!
πππGood for you to take charge! I started a class last week, too. A mix of cardio and strength. Zumba, kickboxing, and resistance training. At 62, Iβm the youngest in the class but also the least fit!
I wish I had taken my health more seriously when I was turning 50. But now is better than never! πͺππΌββοΈ4 -

Welcome to new members! In October I finally broke through the plateau I had in the summer and September, however I had very little exercise and my body feels tired and sluggish. So my goal for November is keep the gradual weight loss going but feel better via exercise.2 -

@MercyRoth way to go on breaking your plateau! That must feel mentally so good.
@Gigi_815 your exercise classes sound both fun and effective! Good for you!@SeagirlIrun - I like carbs and have switched to complex only (nonwhite flour) unless a special occasion. Not easy! Wow, how did you drop 18 lbs since May - thatβs terrific!
You have a good goal around drinks too.Happy Birthday @HappyDonkey75
Gosh, 50 years young! Self reflection can be such a blessing to us. I love the gift you are giving to yourself- a new class!2 -

i think the 170 I had yesterday may have been from stepping in some water on the floor before getting on the scale. Today Iβm finally going to see a lipedema / lymphedema specialist to see if I have either one of those conditions. Either way Iβm hoping they can help with the crazy swelling and water retention in my legs.2 -

Well itβs official, I was diagnosed with stage 2 Lipoedema. Itβs an inherited chronic disease. Iβm a lot more upset than I expected. There is no cure, only management and prevention of worsening. The primary treatment is surgery but that is unavailable in Canada so Iβd have to fly to Germany or the US multiple times and pay out of pocket. Not manageable for me. It primarily affects women so of course it has not been properly studied or funded.1 -

@MercyRoth so sorry to hear about your dx, I know it's not what you wanted to hear. You have an answer at least and now you can be your best advocate for managing your health.
@HappyDonkey75 belated happy birthday!
Still hanging in there on my end. Actually feeling great these past couple weeks. Check up and blood work today. I started back with some weights and squats last week, just need to recover some consistency. Carried the laundry baskets (4) down the stairs yesterday, that's a win!

11/5- 147.2Took that strength class last night. I really enjoyed it. It was all similar exercises I do at home , which was great because its just basic weightlifting moves that are the tried and true strength builders. She limits class size to 8 and there was only 5 of us which I also really liked. I think I will plan to attend one class a week through the winter months .It will help keep my routine a little fresh I think. Working from home and working out at home can tend to get to me in the winter months.
The old lady dog took a turn for the worse last night. I'm afraid its time to say our goodbyes . We have been managing things to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible but she is degrading . I see it in her eyes. We are trying to figure out timing. Its really hard especially after having just lost our other dog in September unexpectedly, as many of you know . This old girl is really my hubby's dog and ultimately I am leaving the decision to him. While it won't be easy , her quality of life is such that its not fair to continue as she is. He also knows that, but is hanging on to those glimmers of her being her old self that come occasionally.
