Food Scale

I a looking for a new food scale because I weight everything possible. I need functionality and size doesn't matter, but not too big to place on the counter. There are ones that are battery only, and some that have USB charging capabilities Whatever the case, please share which one you use! I would be very appreciative.

This is my current scale. It's fine. I bought it back in October, 2021. It uses a couple of batteries, I think they're AA. They last for months, but I don't keep track of how many . . . could be as much as a year, don't know. Long time. The brand is GeekClick. I think I paid less than $20 USD for it then.

I leave it out on the counter. Yes, it has a few rust spots on top. That's probably my fault - maybe accidentally left vinegar droplets on it or something.

It was my second food scale. I'd owned that first one for a long time, but only started using it daily when I joined MFP in 2015. I don't remember the brand.

Honestly, at this point, if buying a new scale, I'd just look for another inexpensive one that has the basic functions I need. Maybe someone else has a superstar scale to recommend, but I think they're kind of a commodity, beyond making sure they have certain basic functions.

I put a ruler on it for scale. It's probably obvious that that's inches. I apologize that I didn't put it the other way around, so it started at 1" rather than the high end, but I'm sure you get the idea.

I have the OXO. I like that it uses AAA batteries which we always have in the house, as opposed to those coin shaped batteries that we need to buy specially. It’s special feature is that the display section pulls out, which is useful if you are using it with a large mixing bowl or cutting board. Here’s a picture.

A functional, compact food scale is definitely worth it. Look for one that’s accurate and either battery or USB rechargeable to fit your counter space.
