10/3: 241.9
10/9: 239.8 Okay got barely in the 230s - now to stay there and make progress losing.
10/31: 242.8
11/1: 244
11/4: 241.8
11/6: 239.2 Again got into the 230s
12/3: 241
❄️What are you trying to achieve this month? What have you already achieved this year?
This month: I will continue to maintain my weight loss and try to lose so that I am into the 230s by next year
This year: I have maintained my weight loss. I think I have burned fat even when not losing weight. Until the statin issue I increased my strength. I am off all medications.
❄️How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you will be putting in place to help you through?
I did well during Thanksgiving but Christmas is harder. December is harder:
- My husband’s birthday
- Our anniversary
- Christmas involves more sweets than Thanksgiving
I am lowering my goals for this month. I was MIA at the end of November because I needed to concentrate on an important project. I didn’t cook. I didn’t exercise as much. I am still working on this project but I have to phase it now so there should be more time between the phases to cook healthy meals and exercise. So my main goal is to get my strength back from the weakness due to the statin issue, to maintain my weight or lose a small amount and get this work done I need to get done so I can go back to cooking and exercising more.
Here is my exercise plan to get back to my previous schedule.
❄️2 session a week of Aquafit (50+ minutes)
❄️1 sessions a week strength training including 4 sessions of PT
❄️work back up to 30 minutes of Japanese walking at least 2 times a week
❄️ after I have achieved other goals I hope to have 1 session per week - long walk (45-60 minutes)
❄️1 day of rest (as I get better Saturdays will often involve fun activities that often include longer walks).
December Goals:
❄️ get my weight back in the 230s and stay there
❄️ drink more water
❄️ keep sugar intake low
❄️get back to making healthy meals at home with only 1 day a week meal out if needed.
❄️ see exercise plan above
❄️ increase general activity level (NEAT) with cooking, cleaning, gardening and taking the stairs to the basement once a day.
@RavenStCloud If no one else wants to take the lead I will make sure there is a thread each month but may not be so good at your wonderful monthly alliterations!

Hi, Ruth here. 206 LB, 5' 5" 62 years
My goal for December is to maintain the daily discipline of using MFP to help me lose weight. Nothing is better than MFP for keeping me mindful of what I'm eating and motivated to exercise more.
My son is getting married in March and I really want to be down at least 15 lb by then. That gives me a goal of 1 lb a week. I had lost 10 lb before the summer, in preparation for a trip to Newfoundland (and all the hiking we would do). Unfortunately, I've gotten lax since then and it all came back on so quickly. ☹️ But here's to new beginnings! I saw your group and really need the community, motivation, and accountability.

My youngest got a free turkey from their union. So we are planning to cook it tomorrow. It has been awhile since I cooked a turkey. Usually someone else in the family hosts Thanksgiving since my house isn't big enough and our family in town keeps growing. I am planning to make a pie crust today. I usually just buy one. I am planning on making a sweet potato pie for tomorrow. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with the whole family together on my side. My son's family came up for it. We also went to Dim Sum with my husband's side of the family that weekend.
We celebrated my husband's birthday this week. Next week is our anniversary. So I hope to be able to make some progress losing despite the celebrations before Christmas.
@ruthatoy Welcome. 1 lb a week is a good goal.
@anneliz35 what a nice loss. I lost 20 lbs last year but can't lose more so far. At least I am keeping it off.

Hello, my name is Deb, I am 64 years old, been married for 40 years. I'm 5 ft. 7 inches and weighed 236 pounds at my GI appointment for a fatty liver ( I didn't even know I had it and don't have any of the symptoms that go with it). He would like me to lose 10%=36 pounds around at 6 months. Also , want me to go on Wegovy or Zepbound. My insurance denied both of these, I would need to be diabetic to be on one of these. So I was sent to a weight management gal. She thinks she can get me on 1 of the injections. My calorie intake is suppose to be 1375 a day. I don't even come close to that. I'm on a low carb diet and as of 12/8 I weighed at 224 pounds. So 12 pound down. I'd like to get down to 190-195 by summer.
Exercising is an issue for me, not much to do in the cold winter months here in Indiana, I don't want to join a gym either. So I've been trying to use a pedal bike that sits on the floor.
Drinking more water is hard for me, but I'm trying to drink more.
This night this week I was way over my calorie intake, we went out to eat with friends. At the end of the day I had 1930 in calories. Christmas time is hard to stay on this diet, what with baking and making gifts for friends with my baking.

I ate a whole box of biscotti this morning.😶 Not good. Stress eating. Trying to get back to eating healthy meals. I just find it really hard this time of year. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. At least, maintaining my weight loss which I am happy about, but not the unhealthy eating. Hope everyone is doing better than that. The positives: I find all the posts with wins and struggles helps motivate me. And you feel less alone with your goals. All the best for the week to come! 😘

Hello everyone
Down to 205.8, so slowly losing the 8 lbs I gained. Its been hard. Lots of stressors and we have had company every weekend, hosting, since Thanksgiving. Last ones are coming this weekend. Its been fun, exhausting and hard all at the same time.
What are you trying to achieve this month? What have you already achieved this year?
For the rest of the month, I am trying to eat clean, and more plant based. It may help my medical condition, so giving it a try. If my numbers continue to rise at my 3 month visit I will change back.
❄️How do you plan to celebrate the holidays and are there any strategies you will be putting in place to help you through?
Tough one. We have been hosting people staying here every weekend and extended weekends. Im just trying not to go crazy with the eating.
❄️Don't forget to pat yourself on the back for committing to yourself this year. Whether you've kept it going since January or just started up in the last few months, well done either way!
I am happy I have lost weight this year. Just want to keep it going.
On a personal note, I wanted to say Thank you to Raven for doing this thread. Also to wish all of you, both old and new members, a Happy and Healthy New Year.

I haven't lost weight but have maintained. I am trying to limit the holiday treats. In the past I did Christmas Eve and go to others on Christmas day but now we are only getting together on Christmas day so that helps. My family in town are just too much for my smaller house. Last year I found that making even a smaller Christmas Eve dinner was too much. So this year I will be cooking only my very favorites and bringing them for Christmas day. We are getting together with my son, DIL and grandson on the Saturday after Christmas too but my husband will be cooking his wonderful brunch so I am off the hook except for bringing dishes to my sisters on Christmas day. I am trying to keep up with Aquafit, walks and combo PT and strength training sessions. I am looking forward to getting back to making my healthy dinners for my family in January and a more regular exercise schedule.
@carmichealdeb We just celebrated our 43rd anniversary Friday. You are making good progress. I think having a periodical high calorie day helps to keep your body from fighting the weight loss as hard.
@anneliz35 I find it really hard this time of year too. I am just making sure I don't gain. Last January I cut out all sweets after a bad Holiday season. This year I am trying to do better in December but hope to do what I did last January next month cutting out the sweets again.
@rorymason I am glad you lost weight this year. I have maintained last year's loss but have lost only a bit this year. I join you in wishing all a Happy & Healthy Holidays & New Year.

Hope the Holidays are going well for all. I have gone up a bit. I feel this week is pre-2026 week for me. I am done with Christmas sweets and back to my normal eating patterns. Hope to get into my exercise schedule again as well. We will have a sibs and spouses night on NY Eve and we usually eat healthy on these. We like to play games. I will plan to start our new thread in a few days. I hope by then I will will be back down again. Today I will plan dinners for the week. I need to think about lunches for the coming year.

Hello all and Merry Christmas! I haven't been on the boards for a while, but I've still been pushing through and making progress. I plan to jump in on the January thread and be more consistent. Thank you to @Cupcakecrusoe for the tag in the November thread and for sharing the loop habit tracker. I just downloaded it. I hope you all are doing well.

Hello all
I am back on target but def have to lose a few more pounds of this holiday weight to get back to where I was. My goal is to lose at the very least another 25 pounds in 2026 and keep it off.
I am happy I lost weight in 2025 but I did not make my goal of being under 200 as I had wanted to 🤷♀️
I am away in a warmer environment for a while. Its good because I am more active there and it reduces my stress level. Bad because there are also desserts and meals out with friends. I also have no access to a scale while there, so hoping when I get back, I am presently surprised
@KeriA We will be married 43 years in a few days.
@jenbroussard71 Hi, hope you are well!
Wishing all of you a happy and healthy new year.

Hey, ladies! 💜💜💜
Thanks for sticking with this group. I know I've been in and out this year; I've been dealing with a lot of family issues and being in and out of physical therapy and my head has NOT been in the game.
@KeriA Thank you for offering to run this group in 2026 (and for noticing all my alliterations!!!)! No one else has messaged me about it, so if the offer is still good, I'd love for you to take over.
I'm hoping to be more active in the group in 2026, so hopefully you'll still see me lurking about!

Good morning and happy new year, everyone!
New year, same me, with my goal this year being CONSISTENCY. Gotta hit my little goal buttons every day!
@KeriA thanks so much for being the thread steward in 2026, and @RavenStCloud thank you so so SO much for stewarding the thread for as long as you have! It's been at least 6 years that I've been participating, absolute boss stuff! Hopefully we see you lurking in the thread!
I'm as I type on my silly walk for my silly mental and physical health, and I'll check in in the January thread when it appears! See you all there!

Good morning and again Happy New Year! Here is the January 2026 post link. Hope to see all there!
