I inherited a package of wonton wrappers, anyone have good recipes I can make with them? I want to bake them, not fry them...otherwise it's fair game. If it's not low-cal then I want to be able to freeze them and make them last a while...

    They will freeze well.

Also, a while back I cooked Baked Crab Rangoon ( http://www.food.com/recipe/baked-crab-rangoon-131062 ), and it was pretty good. I have to admit, the fried version on the Chineese buffet is my favorite "guilty" food there. :blushing:

I bake my egg rolls most of the time and they're still fairly tasty. I mix up shredded cabbage, carrots, bean sprouts, garlic, onions, a bit of soy sauce, fish sauce, chinese five spice, and roll them up. Just a brushing of oil or cooking spray and they bake up crispy.

When I have extra wrappers sometimes I spritz them with oil and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake.

This is hands down one of my favorites....I call them Wonton jalapeno poppers. If you do not like things spicy, you can omit or decrease the jalapenos, they are yummy that way as well.
    recipe-
    8 wonton wrappers
2 triangles of Crystal Farms jalepeno cheese wedge (could also use laughing cow, I far prefer the Crystal farms)
    1 Jalepeno
    Cooking spray

Pre-heat oven to 350, spray a baking sheet with Pam or cooking spray of choice. Quarter the cheese triangles, slice the Jalapeno. Lay out the wontons on the baking sheet with Pam if you like things crispy, or a cuttting board if you like things softer. Place one of the quartered cheeses in the middle of the wrapper with a slice of Jalapeno. with a wet finger, fold and seal the wrapper into a package, bake for 12-15 minutes. I put salsa on the finished product but these are tasty all on their own...

You can eat 8 of these yummy things for 220 calories. YUMMMMMMM!

I put a wedge (or sometimes just half) of my favorite Laughing Cow Lite flavored cheese in the won-tons and pinch the edges together with Egg Beaters Liquid Eggs. Bake until lightly brown and they are fantastic!!!!!!

I came up with a recipe using wonton wrappers about a year ago when I was out of wheat thins!

Just cut the won ton wrappers in half diagonally (or into squares, the sky is the limit here) and spray the top with olive oil spray. Then you can season them however you want (i usually use sea salt or a little paprika) and put them on a parchment lined baking sheet for 10 minutes at 325! Just make sure to watch them carefully because they can burn in a heartbeat.

Now you have chips for practically no calories! And I find that making them in a few sheets at a time limits what I can have anyway.

taco or lasagna cups. line muffin tins with a wrapper, put 1-2 tbl meat of choice then cheese, add another wrapper on top and layer meat and cheese again. Bake at 375 for about 15-20 and they are crispy and full of flavor. You can make them lower fat with low fat ground beef and low fat cheese. They are both YUM-O!! My 7 year old wants me to try them with enchilada sauce, instead of taco or lasagna next time. And, you can freeze them and pop them in the oven for a few minutes when you need a quick dinner!! I would say they would be good in the freezer for a month or so.

Probably not the healthiest, but I boil chicken breast and shred it. Add homemade tomato sauce. Put a little chicken in each wrapper, with spinach and shredded cheese. Fold and bake on a wire rack. Yum!

I like to use them to baked chicken wraps.

    Boil chicken breast then shred.
Mix shredded chicken with your choice of hot wing sauce, season to your liking
    Shredded Cheese
    Cabbage if your like

Lay out Wonton wrap and place shredded chicken in the middle
    Sprinkle with cheese and cabbage
Fold four corners in and lay on non stick foil lined baking sheet
Spray wrapped wonton's with cooking spray

Bake in oven at 350 till golden brown. Cool and enjoy!

I love wonton wrappers for leftovers. That least little bit of meat, rice, veggies, potatoes...etc, etc, etc...just spoon into the wrapper, dab a bit of water and seal them up. Freeze. Then bake or steam until done. We call it Mystery Wonton Night. Got more than a few spoonfuls? Mystery Eggrolls are awesome, too! I did a mac n cheese with hot dog one once and its now my son's favorite. My Spaghetti and Meatball Eggrolls are a demand for Christmas brunch, too.

Whatever meal you like, you can chop finely and add to a wonton wrapper. They are pretty flavor neutral. So anything goes!

I make ravioli with them. It's so much easier than rolling out fresh pasta and freezes really well.

Emilybites.com has a ton of recipes using wontons. Here are the ones from her savory cupcake section (I know, I know, they aren't cakes but they are baked in a cupcake tin).

Here's her lasagna cupcake recipe. Make them, and then feel godlike for your ability to make handheld lasagna:

    Hawaiian BBQ cups

    And white veggie lasagna cups:

The only one I've personally tried is the lasagna cupcakes. They tasted great.

Mini Caesar Salad Bites - they're delicious and pretty low calorie depending on what dressing you use.
mix up butter and garlic salt, put the wonton wrappers in mini muffin tins so they form little cups and then brush with the butter and garlic mixture. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 - watch 'em! they can burn quick if you're not careful. Let them cool while you mix up the salad to put inside. I use finely chopped romaine lettuce, a little dressing, and some parmesan cheese.
    YUM!

    Pumpkin Pie Wontons

    Makes 16

30 minutes or fewer These dessert wontons are a great way to serve pumpkin pie individually, and won our reader recipe contest in 2001. Look for packaged wonton wrappers in the refrigerated produce section of most large supermarkets.
    1 cup canned pumpkin
    2 Tbs. maple syrup
    3 Tbs. light brown sugar
    1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
    16 packaged wonton wrappers
    Granulated sugar for dusting
    Ground cinnamon for dusting
Preheat oven to 400F. In medium bowl, mix pumpkin, maple syrup, brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. Place one wonton wrapper flat on work surface. Spoon 1 Tbs. filling into center. Moisten edges of wonton with water and fold in half to form triangle. Press edges to seal. Repeat with remaining filling and wontons. Arrange filled wontons on ungreased baking sheet. Lightly coat wontons with nonstick cooking spray and sprinkle each with sugar and cinnamon.Bake until golden, about 16 minutes. Turn and bake 2 more minutes. Set baking sheet on wire rack to cool.
