Also, the "I don't have time" excuse. I HATE that one! :explode:

Why do you hate that? Some people don't have a lot of time. I don't see how that can be so annoying to you.

Nice reply. I agree but I am probably one of those people who would give advice, unasked for. That is something I will definitely work on.

LMAO! I was so thrilled when a new lady at my gym & I struck up a conversation a couple of weeks ago, and she IS trying to bulk up! Because muscles are sexy she said, and I wanted to hug the stuffing out of her! Yes they are honey, yes they are :flowerforyou:

Besides, the bonus of being the only girl on the weight side of the gym is the scenery. Helllooooo shoulders and biceps and quads, oh my! :smooched:

My pet peeve is when people don't put their damn weights away when they are done. I clean up after boys at home, I gotta clean up after them in the gym too?? PUT YO SHIZ AWAY.

I hate it when someone tells me they can't/won't do yoga because they aren't flexible. You DO yoga to GET flexible....

I get that more from men than women actually. My close friends are all male, and they all recommend I stick to cardio, because weights are for men and women should not try and gain too much muscle.

    Wow. Just... Wow.

So I'm curious, what fitness "myths" irritate you?

When people say muscle "weighs" more than fat....WRONG! It's more dense but 5lbs of muscle weighs the same as 5lbs of fat!

Just smile say thank you, that is interesting, glad that works for you or the like. Then just think what you really want to say. Save your breath beyond that as there is no reasoning with idiotic beliefs unless you actually want to spend your time discussing it.

I still have a ways to go, but also have seem a lot of success so just state well it works for me. My pet peeve are people who are out of shape and overweight who start telling me what I should be doing to get results when I am getting results already. The other is being told stories of others who are progressing faster than I am....we are all on our own journey and I think we all are trying to achieve a lifestyle that suits us, our age, interest, time, current state of health and budget.

    here, here!

you have to eat breakfast to "jumpstart" your metabolism for the day....who knew metabolism is like a dead battery that needs a jump every morning...?

eat 5-6 meals a day to "rev" up metabolism....dry heaves in mouth..

breakfast is the most important meal of the day ....

those would be my top three...

I like seeing women in the gym lifting.
I wish more would do it......

Cause I sure hate looking at the other guys in the gym.

    Women make the place prettier.

Thank you women.

Well, i think its a tie for me between two things: "Women get bulk or manly from lifting" and my favorite "I dont have time" or "you dont have kids... i cant make time"

Now, its true that i do not have kids so i guess i do have more free time than others. but, if you really want to lose weight or gain lean muscle, etc, you need to find time. I'm sure those people have a free time sometime. And, having kids doesnt mean that you have to resort to fast food for dinner. If its important to you; you'll find a way.

I've gotten to the point where I dont bother explaining that lifting doesnt make you bulky as a woman. They dont want to hear it. Until they educate themselves, it will not stick in their minds.

Oh god, so many things irritate me. I think the thing that gets me the most is when people ask you for advice, then come up with an excuse for every suggestion you make. They want to lose weight and get in shape. AWESOME. They don't want to diet or exercise AT ALL.

Get liposuction every two years for the rest of your life and stop wasting my time.

Also the weird idea that you HAVE to work out in a gym. I, personally, hate gyms. They make me feel very judged. If I'm lifting, I'm trying to "bulk up." If I'm on a cardio machine, I'm just trying to be skinny and I don't know anything about fitness. If I'm walking (say after a workout, on a rest, or even because the workout calls for it!) I'm lazy.

Another thing that really bothers me is what my (amputee) little sister calls "Inspiration porn." Pictures of people with physical disabilities working out that say something like "What's your excuse?" It's absolutely horrible to use someone else's body to shame you into working out more. She feels that it "takes away [her] humanity and reduces me to a tool of shame and humiliation."

If someone deals with their disability by becoming a motivational speaker or whatever, let them do it on their terms. Don't pass them around the internet like a bottle of shame-based motivation because YOU think it's okay.

How about this one....muscle weighs more than fat.

    Correct.
    Muscle is more dense.
So it requires less muscle to == 1 pound, than what it would be for fat == 1 pound.

I don't like it when people are in the gym with headphones on, and singing along with their music so everyone else can hear it......
Especially when said person, can't sing worth crap.
