Does a person's avatar effect how you interact with them?

Doesn't bother me and doesn't affect how I deal with them.
People have allsorts of reasons for adding/not adding pictures and I respect that.0 -
Maybe on the forums. Not so much for the people on my friends list/newsfeed.0

Well if they have a actual pic of themselves in their profile pics it can be nice but personally I like the aspect of the internet where it is more of a meeting of minds and body image, race, age,sex etc are irrelevant.0

Not at all. This isn't a dating site, so how people look is irrelevant.
As for random pics etc. It's understandable that some people aren't comfortable with having their pics on here... Especially with most people's reasons for being on here (being overweight, not happy with their appearance.)0 -
I treat everyone equally (with contempt). Except the ones with nice thighs.0

I like avatars as it give some insight into an individual’s personality. I believe that personal pictures are just another form of an avatar.
I do not like it when there is a blank avatar as it will affect how I will react to that individual if I even do.0 -

Thats nice and all but if someone has a Hello Kitty avatar and another has a Nazi Swastika im not going to sit here and pretend I would be equally as nice to both.0 -
It doesnt bother me, it shows something about their personality. I have one friend whose profile pic is of my favorite show and I think it's so awesome, lol0

And this :-)0 -

^ this.
Also, here's what dictionary.com says about an avatar;
"an embodiment or personification, as of a principle, attitude, or view of life."
So, yes... You should judge people on their avatar That's what it's there for0 -
Nope, all my friends are equally HOT!
On forums I don`t care,it is what they post that matters.0 -
It doesn't bother me...I imagine for some, interacting with someone that has a personal pic feels like they're dealing with a real person (perception). Given the "catfish" like nature of the internet, it's hard to tell what's legit and what's not.0
-
Only if it's something like a swastika or a Klan-head-pillow-case.0
-
Yes, I can confirm.0

Well, I can't take someone seriously who has a 50 Shades of Grey avatar. I really can't. Unless you mean it ironically somehow, but that's tough to tell.
Otherwise, no. If a person has a sense of humor and shows intelligence, that's all that matters.0 -

For the most part it doesn't. But on a site like this when people are handing out "advice" to others I think it is only natural for someone to want to see what the person handing out advice looks like.
Let's face it, no matter what anyone says their motivation for losing weight is, some part of them wants to do it to look better. So if someone says they did this or that or have lost this much fat or gained that much muscle, you kind of want to see some proof.
Losing weight is one endeavor where blindly following what a stranger on the internet says can lead to a lot of wasted time. Everyone doing this should do a lot of research on their own, but if someone is giving advice and hiding behind a picture of a cat with a stupid expression or an anime cartoon on a site like this it should send up at least one red flag. :drinker:0 -

I've got people on my friends list purely because of my avatar (well he is awesome!!) so I would say yes they do effect how people interact with you. These friends may never have added me otherwise.0
-
Don't matter to me at all.0 -
If the avatar is bacon I find myself licking my computer screen0
-
Nope. I evaluate people by what they say.0
-
It doesn't affect how I interact with others, but I will say that when I had a picture of just me, without my husband in it, I got a lot of creepers. And I'm not even that hot!0

That's me, I swear!0 -
It all depends.0

Initially, yes, just like initially you notice someone's appearance...no matter how much we like to say we don't.
Once you get past the avatar and start to know the person it doesn't matter anymore...unless they are smokin' hot then I just keep going back to their page to stare at them.
