Does a person's avatar effect how you interact with them?

  • For the most part it doesn't. But on a site like this when people are handing out "advice" to others I think it is only natural for someone to want to see what the person handing out advice looks like.
Let's face it, no matter what anyone says their motivation for losing weight is, some part of them wants to do it to look better. So if someone says they did this or that or have lost this much fat or gained that much muscle, you kind of want to see some proof.
Losing weight is one endeavor where blindly following what a stranger on the internet says can lead to a lot of wasted time. Everyone doing this should do a lot of research on their own, but if someone is giving advice and hiding behind a picture of a cat with a stupid expression or an anime cartoon on a site like this it should send up at least one red flag. :drinker:
    What chu tryna say?

I resent you and your flag! I'm too thug for flags! \O/
I think I feel a bit...safer(?) using cartoon pictures. I feel less people talk to me when they know what I look like. Don't know why. I think it's cause I'm sexy smokey bacon. Yeah, baby, yeah, baby, yeah!

Well, I can't take someone seriously who has a 50 Shades of Grey avatar. I really can't. Unless you mean it ironically somehow, but that's tough to tell.

Otherwise, no. If a person has a sense of humor and shows intelligence, that's all that matters.

and yes I read the books so it's a like I have.

Your red flag! However if your other 'flag' is red or sways in ripples in the wind, I'd consult a physician.

Posting actual pics makes it easier to know who to flirt with.

For the record, my avatar is me. That's right. Me and my chicken. In case you're curious, someone gave me the hat to wear because it was my birthday. The next week I handed off to someone else, but the hat soon disappeared. The picture was taken by a friend of mine.

Yes...if your avatar has no personality, I assume neither do you. It may not be the correct assumption, but that is my first impression.

Yes, but generally more for political reasons, which thankfully really aren't an issue on here.

As far as weight or appearance, no. I'm here to lose weight and make friends who have the same goal.

yes, I thought I would share some of my personality and lifestyle.....didn't want to do the whole picture thing right away. I have came to the conclusion that most threads are about one's self or gawking at others......and I'm not hating. If you look good, I'll always look. =)

Well then, I guess my impression based on the avatar was correct in this case.

You mean that genre? Or you mean you like to read books that seem to have been written by 10-year-olds? Because that is the caliber of 50 Shades.
