LOOK AT MY TICKER LOOK AT MY TICKER!!!!!!!
Since last Wednesday I've been so antsy to lose just one more pound (to make my weight loss to date an even 50) and after I got on the scale this morning and began running around my house in sheer joy! I know I've still got ~20 lbs to lose but what an accomplishment I feel I have reached! I'm really in a groove here and hope to stay here as long as humanly possible!
For my new exercise this week I'm going to try Zumba! I've been wanting to try it forever but though I'd feel stupid. This challenge will make me suck it up and GIT 'R DONE! (ok I'm not really a hick just still elated over reaching my milestone!).
Welcome mekhala!!0 -

I am mainly a treadmill/eliptical person so I have to think of something too.0 -
I'd like to join. When should I weigh in? When do I post my carbs? Thanks!!!

Welcome Katie,
Weigh ins are usually either Sunday or Monday since we try to post the new week on Sunday and just keep track of the carbs daily. If you have any other questions just let us know.0 -

Ruth – It took me a year and a half to get here so don’t be too hard on yourself. Patience and persistence is the key!
CGerman – Have you ever tried spinning? I LOVE LOVE LOVE spinning! Great workout, HUGE calorie burn.
Hi Katie – My name is Katie too! It’s funny how every board I get in a habit of posting on ALWAYS has another Katie. it's weird! :laugh:0 -

If you have access to a bosu, that is a really fun work out. If you can't think of something you can do for free Walmart has a ton of workout DVDs for $9.
I made an appointment to see a personal trainer tomorrow. They won't discuss rates with me over the phone (which makes me nervous) but will give me a free consultation and initial workout. I let you know how it goes tomorrow night or Thursday morning.0 -

I think I need to adjust the ratios for carbs/fat/protein. I ate a bagel with breakfast, rice with lunch, and pasta with dinner and I've still got a whole load of carbs left. What do you ladies have your ratios set at?0 -

I never changed mine it is still at the mfp default.
Well my whole work out and diet is gonna change. My trainer said I was going to intense on my cardio sooo I know have to slow it down and increase the incline/resistance. Also up the weights to higher weight fewer reps. It seems I was burning muscle. Also need to adjust to not eat protien after working out but a simple carb. One of the trainers is now a certified nutrionist so might start seeing him once a month it all depends. Who knows I am so burnt out today it was hard to get out of the bed. I think I might have been retaining a lot of water yesterday so might have her double check my body fat next week.0 -

Svey - What's bosu?
CGerman - I have my ratios set at 45% carbs, 30% protein and 25% fat. I dropped the carbs down from MFPs suggested because I'm trying to get more protein. I try really hard to make all my carbs be complex ones so that I'm getting the most out of them. I recently dropped the carbs % down and have been working on tweeking to not go over, some days it's not so easy :grumble:
Ruth - Increasing your incline/resistance and adding heavier weights with fewer reps will definitely help you build more muscle, which will lead to your body burning more fat! Why is it good to not eat protein but a simple carb? I thought complex carbs were good after a workout. I often drink a glass of milk with sugar free chocolate syrup (which would be a complex carb). I've been really getting in to learning more about the way my body works with the things i put in it. I find it FASCINATING!0 -
She only wants me to do the simple carb instead of protien for a little bit since I was burning my muscle up. In 5 weeks I usually lose between 2-3% body fat and this time I lost 0.3% while dropping 6 inches. I am really thinking about doing atleast one session with the nutrionist. I think the said he is $30 and my trainer said she would cover my first session so why not.0

A bosu is a is a inflated dome that you stand on or step on and off of while performing exercises. Because it is an unstable surface it makes you really work your whole body to stabalize your balance.
http://www.bosu.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=BOSU/story.html
I'm set at 40% carbs, 30% fat, 30% protien. I based it off this quiz:

Well I did my new workout today. I scheduled a consultation with a personal trainer at Fitness Together.
http://corp.fitnesstogether.com/
Spent 2.5 hours there. Spent about 55 minutes exercising, although there was a lot of talking during and the trainer demonstrated everything before asking me to do it. Did super sets of different leg and arm exercises. Did some core work in the end that made me hate him, lol. The rest of the time was spent talking endlessly about my goals, expectations, and financing. Good god is it expencive. Buying a 6 month 3 day a week package would be well over 2 months salary (gross, not net). I REALLY REALLY would love to make that commitment because their program seems top notch, but I'm not sure I can justify the cost. :grumble:0 -
Svey what about only doing 2 days a week with them? Are they hour long or half hour long sessions? I do 2 half hour sessions a week and its 200 a month for a year. It is one of the best investments I made. I don't think I would be as far as I am with out her.0

They are 45 min sessions with the trainer and then they have you do 20 min of cardio afterward. I have the price sheet out in the car, but if I remember correctly, that was still over $500/month.
The more sessions you buy, the less you pay per session. The cheapest session rate I saw was $50ish if you purchased 300 sessions (do you have $15,000 I can "borrow"?).
I would REALLY love to do this. I just need to crunch some numbers tomorrow to see if I could even make it possible.0 -

WoW that is expensive. Does it include anything like nutrition as well as fitness?0 -

It does include nutrition, if you use one of your sessions for a nutrition consultation. They don't have a dietitian on staff but "they all received training from one". Meh.
The fitness aspect of the gym with the private rooms and the one on one coaching was awesome. I just can not justify the cost no matter how hard I tried. I was so bummed all morning.
My step-dad sees a trainer and pays about $30/session. I'm going to check him out. I really want to incorporate resistance/strength training into my routine but I don't feel comfortable doing that unsupervised.0
