PSB Week 19 (New Members Always Welcome)

$30 seems more reasonable. Most I see are between 25 and 30 a session. Also with all your traveling will you be able to stay doing it 2 or 3 times week?
Also I was going to try this class at the gym this week called Piyo a mix of pillaties and yoga but it was yesterday and I was too drained to think about going to the gym.0 -

My travel usually means being gone 50% of the time. I can make a commitment to go 3-4 times a week when I'm home, but not traveling isn't an option.
I have a Curves membership (that I'm not using right now), but I feel like I get a better workout at home. I have another 7-8 months on that membership. I think I need to start forcing myself to go and maybe doing an extra trip or two around the circuit. It doesn't feel nearly as difficult as it did when I first started in May, but even though the machines are set REALLY loose at least it will provide some resistance. The clubs I've used when traveling usually have their machines set with much more resistance.
I've thought about joining a bigger gym when my membership runs out. More machines, more classes, more options period.

I didn't like Curves. It got boring to me and also I prefer to work out with a mixture of people so a normal gym is better for me. I went to a womens only gym way back in the day and it was okay. I guess I like some eye candy to go with the sweat.0 -

WOOHOO, I didn't go over my carbs! That almost never happens.
Went to Curves today for the first time in forever. Also convinced the friend that joined with me to go. She went 3 times in March and stopped coming with me. We got there as they were closing. Apparently the hours are different in the summer... Sigh...
We played Just Dance instead.0 -
Svey - Yeah my gym changed their hours for the summer and cut them back quite a bit I've never been to Curves but I've heard a lot of women who like it. IDK, maybe one day....
In other news........I FINALLY TRIED ZUMBA!!!!! OMG it was SSSSSOOOOOO much fun! I wasn't feeling it when I woke up but I really wanted to go since I told myself I would. Who ever's idea it was to try a new workout for part of this week's challenge THANK YOU! I now have a new workout that I will find time to incorporate. I do enjoy running and spinning but Zumba will be a nice way to mix things up! I'm a quick learner so I did better than most people do at their first class. Burned 501 calories, so I know one I learn the routine, incorporate my arms more and really get in to it it'll be a good calorie burn for an hour!0 -
Great job Katie. I still have to try zumba and spinning. Those classes fill up so fast at my gym. I was gonna do Piyo this morning but umm yeah didn't make it out of bed in time so even more power to you getting to that class.0
-
I seriously wouldn't have made it if I wouldn't have told myself I HAD to try it to keep up with this week's challenge. Focusing on something throughout the week through the challenges on this msg board is SO helpful to me. So happy I found you all!
I've never done piyo, my gym doesn't offer it. I really want to try a kick boxing class but the only time it's offered is in the morning during the week (while I'm at work). Bummer!0 -
Piyo is a combo of pilattes and yoga my gym offers. I am trying to decided on a couple of the dvds I have that I used one time each a long time ago for what I want to do for this weeks challenge since I don't think I will make it to a class at the gym. I have zumba, walk away the pounds, yoga booty ballet, hip hop abs and cabriet cardio.0
-
Sounds like you've got a nice variety! I had borrowed the Turbo Jam DVDs from a friend but had to give them back last week when she wanted them back. :ohwell: So I'm in the market for something new to pop in when I wanna work out but don't feel like going to (or can't make it to) the gym. I've been considering P90X, but it's just expensive. I guess for that many DVDs though I can't expect it to be cheap!
Any one have any advice/comments about P90X?0 -

I can't count the number of times I've thought that. Having an accountability thread where I've posted my weight and progress on challenges is one of the biggest motivators to keeping me on track in the last 5 months.0 -
Okay so I tried 3 and truely did 2 of them. I first put in Yoga Booty Ballet - Cardio Cabreit (pretty much a classy striptease) started to do it but decided to watch it first. The movements were a little too much for me as a beginner. I then decided to switch to Yoga Booty Ballet - Hip Hop Abs. I really liked this one. I guess I am more of a hip hop girl. The Abs at the end are only 6 minutes but damn they really work the core. Once that was done I was still kinda of going strong so I decided to do the Walk Away the Pounds (3 mile). I really like it as well and it would be something good for when I want to work out before the gym opens on sundays. The only thing is I was wearing a heart rate monitor and none of them really got my heart rate truely going. I think Walk Away the Pounds at one point got it up to 117 but I average out with the 2 videos at 88 bpms for 110 minutes.
So in the long run they are good for the days I just can't make it to the gym but I prefer getting on a treadmill or elliptical.0 -

I finally took that quiz and it said I'm a balanced oxider so I've adjusted my percentages for 40/30/30. If it wasn't for munching while sitting in front of the TV I would have been more on point. BUT, it could have been WAY worse (given my track record)......
I need to get up and do something before I start munching on something else......0 -

Well I wasn't to daring on my new exercise, but tried a DVD, Walk at Home Weight Loss Boot Camp. You could definitely not put much effort in and get that much back, but I pushed and made myself really go all out. Over 650 calories for an hour - I'll take it. As a bonus there was a core slimming section that I could really feel the burn on.0 -
As for ideas for next week: the thing I'm struggling with most is consistency (having a plan and sticking to it DAILY!). Maybe we could all map out our plans for eating/exercise for each day and then as we go through the week assess if we've "stuck to our guns" every day. Maybe this will help me stay on track and incorporate the idea week after week. Just an idea......0

I don't know if anyone else would want something like a no fast food challenge. That is one of my problems but I don't know how it is for everyone else.0
-
I don't typically have a problem with eating fast food, but mainly because we can't afford to eat out a lot! (Sad I know!) If we do have to eat out (which does happen sometimes with our schedules) I typically eat Subway or those fresco tacos at Taco Bell (not the best nutritionally but it sure beats a Big Mac!)0
-
I needed the no fast food challenge this week, lol. I cooked 1 meal this week. It was bad.
I'm traveling for work starting tomorrow morning so whatever the challenge is, it will be difficult for me to follow. What ever works best for everyone is fine with me.0 -
I say if the majority needs to focus on no fast food then GO FOR IT!!!!!0
