How does everyone account for drinking alcohol

If you can fit it into your caloric intake are you ok with it. I am not talking about daily drinking. I am talking about once a week HH or a rare night out. I realize it can fit in your calorie budget but doesn't it truthfully slow your metabolism?
Also do most people stick with vodka when they are drinking since it is low in cals and sugar?

Just drink until you forget, that way there's nothing to remember.0

I've come to treat alcohol the same way I treat other calories. IE is it worth it or not. Cheap booze is right out the window, I don't enjoy it enough to make it worthwhile. Also since losing a fair amount of weight and not drinking as much as I used to it takes a whole lot less. So just like the rest of my calories I only drink things I *really* enjoy, or things I want to try, and I work them in to my calories once or twice a week.0

If i go out and have a few drinks I log as many of them I can remember drinking!! I then forget about it and start anew the next day...0

I drink beer, wine or vodka in moderation within my calorie goal and no it doesn't affect my losing unless I take in excess calories.0

Yeah, I try to log as much as I can, and then try to compensate for it in following days by staying under calorie goal by 200 or so. If I know I am going to have a big night, I try to make sure I have done a 10km walk or 30km bike ride that day so I have already pre burned a lot of it off.0

Oh I totally agree after 700 calorizes in a day leaving enough for HH Damn I cut that edge fast. LOL I am just wondering if because it potentially slows your metab should it be double counted. Again not referring to daily drinking just the occasional HH kind of thing.0

I drink wine on the weekends and I log it. Sometimes I go over, sometimes I don't0

Alcohol is made of water. Water is 0 calories. Ergo, alcohol is 0 calories.0

I've had to cut it out of my plan again as it really has slowed me down recently!0

What is HH? I drink on occasion and usually log the calories. I have some days where I give myself a break and don't count them. I usually gain a pound or so when I do this but then it is back off within a couple days. I am going to be doing this for the long term so I have to be flexible.0

I fit it in when I can. Also, I drink vodka because I like it, not for the low calories.

HH is "Happy Hour"0

I love my few drinks on a Sat night, I normally drink pints but if the pub sells longneck Cornona light I get them instead (100 cals per bottle only slightly less stronger in alcohol). Before I go out drinking I try to 'stock up' on some cals, ie, I save some from the 2 nights before and make sure I get in exercise on the day of drinking, and if needs be I try to pay some back on the Sunday as well. Once I stay within my calorie budget I still lose weight :-)0

I don't drink.0

Thank you! LOL0 -
Alcohol isn't as much of a problem as is the binging that unleashes when i have more than 2 drinks! I have a quick add called "pary binge" and just start all over in the morning.0

Just log it. It's calories.0

Just read my post there, don't mean to sound like I focus my week around drinking, for example on Sat just gone I only had two drinks. I'm Irish and out social scene is often in the pub :-))))))0

Fit it into your cals, try to hit protein and just do your best and enjoy only rarely!0

I drink, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my... wait, what was I saying? :drinker:0
-
Yes! Yes! Yes!!!
Oh wait ... what was the question?
I log it, and sometimes I go over. And I still keep losing weight. The only trouble I have is that the next day I'm more hungry than usual so it's harder to stay within my calorie limit.0 -
You say that you don't drink every day like drinking every day is a bad thing. Now I has the sad. :frown:0

I log every drink I have, no matter what. This weekend I was at a beer festival. I still logged it all, which is to say I logged what I remembered, plus 25%. That's an ugly day in my diary, but I had the calories, so I have to log it. When I go back through the reports tab I can see that these occasional cheat days don't ruin my weight loss as long as I don't let them ruin my will to hit my goal.0

I rarely drink. My hubby is a recovering alcoholic (10 years this past st patrick's day), so I don't normally drink out of respect for him (and we never have anything in the house). I might maybe have a glass of wine at Christmas dinner with the family, but that's it (and usually not even then). In the 8 years we've been together, I can count on one hand the number of drinks I've had (the bottle of wine I downed all by myself on the day my grandpa passed away notwithstanding).
As far as happy hour, or if we happen to be out with friends (or at a friend's house), I drink water or diet soda. I'm happier, I can drive home, and **no one** cares that I'm not drinking. Plus since I don't spend any money on alcohol, I have more money to buy workout gear. LOL :bigsmile:0 -
Drink ALL the margaritas!!... Wait.. what was the question again? :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0

I still drink of a weekend, and I log it. If I am catching up with friends etc I try to make sure I do some sort of activity and pace myself (sometimes, haha) and try not to go over TDEE.
Had a particularly big day saturday, but luckily for me I was feeling a bit queasy that morning (medication that I'm on for stopping smoking) so didn't have a hell of a lot to eat, balanced out some of the calories. I don't suggest doing that at all, it was just how the day panned out. I refuse to feel bad about having a beer - as long as I'm slowly cutting back, and realise that I don't need to drink just because its Friday/saturday night etc... It's nice saving the money too!0
