Should thighs rub?
Replies

Even at 95lb, my thighs touched0

it is normal for them to touch.
That being said, for the longest time, my pants would develop holes in the inner thigh from them rubbing together ( chub rub). Over the last few years, my legs have gotten toned and muscular. In January bought 2 pair of yoga pants, and 9+ months later, there is NO sign of chub rub! A thigh gap isn't something I want...but I LOVE not having chub rub ruin my pants.
Chub rub! Haha! I totally feel your pain (see previous post)0 -
It's completely normal. Thigh gap is only achieveable for people with wide-set hips - or people that are dangerously underweight.
It does depend on your bone structure, to an extent, but I don't have wide hips AND I'm not dangerously underweight and I have "thigh gap." My mom has wider hips and is only a few pounds heavier than me and she doesn't, and my sister also has wide hips and USED to have a "thigh gap," but doesn't anymore.0 -
Your thighs should reside between your hips and knees.
As long as they are doing that, they are normal.0 -

I'm 5'1 with a small-to-average hourglass frame and my thighs touched even when I was 95lbs. I grew up riding horses and doing a lot of heavy work with my legs (farmwork, horse shows, etc) and I have super-developed thigh muscles since I was a kid. Unless I allow my muscles to atrophy on purpose, I don't I will ever have a thigh gap :laugh:0

My legs are built really weird. My KNEES touch. I know this is totally dorky, but when I was in marching band in school you were supposed to put your feet together and "mark time". I couldn't do that because with my feet together my knees rub. I"M DEFORMED!!!
lol:laugh:
Personally I think the "thigh gap" is kinda gross. I've seen some pics where it's extreme and my first thought is "that looks alien-like!"
I'm about healthy, not skinny0 -
Oh I can't wait not to have chafing.0
-
which is sexier to you? lol0 -
This doesnt make sense. What is considered "normal" anyway? All our bodies are beautiful creations NOT MEANT to look like a cookie cutter of the person next to us.
This is like asking if big boobs is normal...:huh:0 -
I'm 5'2 120 lbs. My legs are muscular so my thighs touch.
Actually there has never been a time in my life where they didn't touch. Even at my extremely lowest weight they always touched.0 -

LOL YESSSSSS:drinker:0 -
Worth every penny: Bodyglide Original Anti-Chafe Balm (avail via amazon.com or sports stores).
Or you could just use your deo
And as others have said, it's genetics, not a fat/skinny thing. Although like others, I will say that losing weight has reduced the number of jeans with thigh holes for me too! :drinker:0 -
which is sexier to you? lol
They're BOTH sexy!!
No shaming the girls with gaps please!
I'm healthy weight and have a gap, when I get to goal I expect it will look more like the one on the right.0 -
I've never had a thigh gap. Even when I weighed 120 at 5'5 and my thighs were 19 inches they touched. Not possible for everyone to have one.0
-
I have a gap but only when I sit lol...
5'1.5 and 118 lbs. I workout daily and my legs are actually now starting to build some muscle, but the only way I get a gap is by sitting down.0 -

Lol I don't hate my thighs at all, I don't like how pale my skin is but actual thighs I don't hate... I don't think I hate anything anymore on me, which is kinda huge because I use to hate everything.

Mine don't, even at 10 lbs above where I am now. But as you can see by my profile pic, my hips are wide set, and my legs have never been an area where I put on weight.0
-
agree. No matter how long I work on my thighs, mine will always touch. Big thighs run in my family. All the women in my family has it.0
-
I'm not completely sure, but I think it depends on the person. When I was at my best weight, and in a healthy weight(not toned really, just skinny) my thighs still touched a bit when standing normally. I don't really think I'll ever have the triangle of free space there...
This made me think of those blank spaces in the newspapers that say "Advertise your business here!"0 -

This.
Nope, not according to Chive.
And there is a difference between what women and men each think what the thigh gap really is.0 -

Because we ALL know that The Chive is where super reliable scientific studies come from!
Yeah most guys call it the little triangle below the *ahem* and other people it's more of an anorexic thing it seems.0 -
Chub rub lmao. Love it0

My thighs have always touched, but I never had actual chafing until I got fat. Especially now that pantyhose are "out", it's painful to wear a skirt or dress if I have to do much walking. Looking forward to that going away!0

In for the thigh gap.0
