I'm Graduating! Time to get in shape and need support!

Hello!
On Oct 25th I'll be graduating from beauty school. The last year and I half I have worked full time 8-5pm then school 5:30-10:30pm Monday-Friday. I can say without a doubt this has been the toughest, tiring and most rewarding year and a half of my life! Everyone keeps asking me what I am most excited about when I graduate and have time again and I always respond with"I can't wait to work out again!" So....after Oct25th I will be doing my best to FINALLY get into the shape I've always wanted to be in. So I will be looking to MFP for support!
Any suggestions on good workouts to begin with? I've been pretty sedetary with my office job and school so any good beginning workouts/health plans that are efficient would be great!
Thanks in advance!

I would suggest any Jillian Michael's workout. 30 DS was good... only did half because i bought Body Revolution. I did body Revolution, very good for beginners (so i think). I had no upper body strength so BR helped a lot! It's a 90 day workout program with a meal plan but I'm not following it. :)

    Oh Beauty School DAYS!

Way to go on graduating- I know at my school drop out rate was about 80%. It is so much more stress than anyone can ever imagine. I too worked after school all day, so I completely understand.

Good luck to your future- and to get started I bought a first time Runners book and added in strength after a few weeks. I track everything using MFP I used Sparkpeople.com in the past. I like MFP better it has better application to my phone and that makes everything so much easier...

Feel free to Add me as a friend! Again good luck.
  • I LOVE 30DS!! I tried doing it after school for a couple months but I found it more exhausted me, 5 hrs of sleep a night is not enough energy for it, so I look forward to doing it again. I've never heard of Body Revolution so I will look into that. Thanks for the suggestions! :)
  • To Kita328--the drop rate at my school is very high as well, in fact my school had to lay off a bunch of great staff they had there because there aren't enough students anymore :( but I am glad I made it all the way through! I LOVE doing hair!
I love to run as well, that's good advice to read up on it. I actually have an account with Sparkpeople.com and i love the e-mails I get daily.
Thanks for your response and I look forward to the next chapter in my life with My MFP friends to help me out along the way!

Start out slowly and allow time to notice results. I know when I first started I would work out for 2-3 weeks and get discouraged that things didn't automatically change. Find exercises that you like to do that get you towards whatever fitness goals you have. I love running so that tends to be my go to, but I have also mixed in weights/HIIT/Weight Training/Yoga and Pilates/Zumba. Whatever it is to get a good sweat going and make me feel stronger and healthier.

Great job with sticking in school and making it! Good luck to you!
  • Yup, I always feel like I hit a wall after the first few weeks, even though that's not a long time it feels like it is when you start working out and eating healthy. So I'll be sure to look towards you guys when I'm feeling less motivated. Thanks for the encouragement!
