I have 4 kids, their ages range between 23 through 16, I just began my weight loss journey at the end of august 2012, I had been heavy since i had my first daughter, 23 years ago, But the pounds just kept packing on! My kids grew up with a fat mom, after my first grandson was born, it really began to bother me, here i had this beautiful grandson that i never felt like doing anything with, then i looked back at my kids growing up, and there is so much i missed, I was either tired..or felt sick, to be very honest suicide crossed my mind several times a day, I began trying every diet i could find, spending hundreds of dollars, i was lost, my daughter also began putting on lbs after her son and she was miserable, she along with me was spending money, trying to find the miracle pill.. one day she took to the internet and she came across MFP and began researching about eating lowering calories..she began and was excited, so i joined knowing I'd be on it a week then drop off..but nope, i have lost 90something lbs from being here..This place changed my life, and with the support of my children and my grandsons, i keep fighting the good fight....When i feel like i can't lose another lb, i look at my old photos and i remember how horrible i felt being so heavy, I'm not done yet, but i give myself breaks and allow myself a treat once in awhile, and i know ill get to my goal weight! Good luck to you...Remember this isn't easy..but its easier when you have support from others that have been there!

Ive never posted pictures on here before so hopefully this will work. I am, by no means, ready for a bikini yet. But it IS my goal which is why I own it and take pictures in it.

Before - approximately 280 pounds at 5'10" 6 weeks after my daughter's birth. I may have gained some after this - I topped out at 289.

    http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy112/tortorar/me2_zpse197c727.jpg

Recent- Around 185. OK - I gained 10 pounds after this and now started losing again so I'm techinically only up four :)

My biggest keys were to workout around her schedule when she was an infant. But I can tell you it revolves around how old your daughter is. If she still naps, do full body workouts at home. Even on You Tube you can find a plethora of Jillian Michaels and other workouts. Into pilates? check out blogilates. I just tried one short, 8 minute video on there today.

Now that she's older, and even when she started walking/running - I make it a point to run around with her or at the park to play with her - even part of the time (so I don't embarass her as she's six) and use the monkey bars for pull ups etc.

My motivation was that I needed to be around for her. Actually I still need to remember that as I'm still overweight and am hoping to lsoe another 50 pounds. At any age your kid is - they need you there as healthy and happy as you can be. I hope these pictures worked.

I can also tell you DON'T EAT THE LEFTOVERS!!!!! :)

Mamas, you all look incredible. Sadly my babies are now 18 and 20. Like so many others, I never had a weight problem until I had kids because I used it as an excuse to over eat. I only wish I had done this years ago, so good for you who are doing it while your kids are young!!! Anyway, here's me.

My kiddo just turned 12 years old. After I had him, I got down to my pre-pregnancy weight pretty quickly. But then I went to college, bought a house, started a job with crazy hours, had a house fire and yadda, yadda, yadda....Over the past 5 or 6 years, I just started to pack on the pounds.

The photo below is from my sons birthday party in October 2012....this is the proverbial photo that changed it all...I was about 150.

    PA050771_zpsc7f664a3.jpg

And this photo is from a couple of weeks ago, again at my sons birthday. I am now about 124, +/- a few depending on the day.

I am at my goal weight but I still want to decrease my BF% a little. It is funny that when I was 124 lbs 5 or 6 years ago, I had a much lower BF % and my body was a lot different than it is now. But I am very happy with my work even though there is still more to do!

Also, I just want to add: I let my crazy life get in way of my health. Although I was not at a point that was too unhealthy, I was heading that way. My advice to all moms and mom-to-be's - it is so much easier to deal with that crazy, busy schedule if you make your health and fitness a priority. Some how, I have more energy to be a mom and work my job when I am eating right and working out. When you are so tired, it seems counter-intuitive to expend energy on working out. But once you have made working out/eating right a habit, it will be hard to imagine life any other way.

Everyone looks awesome! Thanks for posting, OP

Everytime I wanted to quit I reminded myself that to be a good role model, I needed to be in good health. To be able to take care of my children well, I needed to take care of myself. That if I needed extra energy, it waited for me at the end of a great workout.

I used a lot of Jillian Michaels DVDs post partum, but her moves are rough on your knees, so watch out.

Now I use bodyrock.tv and thedailyhiit.com, both are free, most workouts are short, and the environment is very motivational.

Make sure you're eating good healthy foods 80% of the time, not "low fat" "low cal" options, but REAL, WHOLE foods. Fruits, veggies, and lean protein. Want a candy bar or a slice of pizza? Ok, eat it! But eat it slooooooow. Savor it. Stick to only 20% junk (if even that much). Then remind yourself that to see the body you want in the mirror, it takes dedication, and get hItback to work ;)

Remember that to see long lasting results, you need to make lifestyle changes. And remember that there are lots of us here who've been there, done that, and we're here to help!

    This!!!

After my third baby (both of my boys were 10lbs!) I have now lost almost 50 lbs, only 5-10 lbs from goal. This can be done! Your daughter is important! But so are you!!! Find time for you, I' ve done it with 3 little ones running around (I also homeschool my boys K and 1st and my daughter is 13months. I'm just saying it can be done!) And it is sooo worth it!! Best of luck to you! :flowerforyou:

Edit to add: I love Jillian Michaels!!! Ripped in 30 has been my go to exercise!
  • You look amazing! It's crazy what a 25lb loss will do to your body. Very inspiring!
