    There really are some truly ridiculous laws. In high school, our government teacher shared a whole list with us. A couple that I remember is that it's illegal to ride a bus with a goldfish in some state, and you can't jump over a puddle while singing in another state.     You haven't heard south african laws obviously ;)

    1. You're not allowed to kiss in public if you're not 16 or older.

    2. It is legalised to have sex (regarding prostitution in our country, to assist in that) if you're 12 years old.

    Laws I've heard from turkey:

    1. If you are not within 5km radius of you husband, you will be arrested if you do not have a certificate from him stating you may be.

    2. If you are raped, you have to have at LEAST 3 other male witnesses in order for you to be considered for the case.

    the age of consent in south africa is 16. knowing this to be true does make me question the veracity of your other claims.

    hilariously bizarre ramblings rooted in fantasies of what us quirky british people are like?


    fwiw, the claim is that you can shoot a scot with a bow and arrow in the city walls of york, a welshman in chester. this would be obvious to the poster if they had a rudimentary understanding of british geography or history. of course neither claim is in fact true.

    if true. as pointed out the age of consent thing is plain wrong. it is 16 in south africa.

    i can't specifically refute the turkish ones, but i do think the first would be at odds with the kemalist secular consensus, and therefore believe it to be untrue.

    In Georgia, no more than 8 women can live in a house together or it is legally considered a whorehouse. In college, we could have fraternity houses with a bunch of guys, but we could only have sorority lodges with no more than 8 women. It is an old law, but it is still enforced. Wtf?

    Same thing in Melbourne FL, except it's 5 women lol

    It's for women's own safety, I guess. When all of them are pmsing, it gotta be a scary place to be!
