Be diligent and honest about counting your calories, whether over or under.

Be honest with what you eat. If you screw up one day, work on staying under for the week. I record good and bad and my bad days eventually get less and less.

Do seek advice but realize everyone is different and YOU are going to have to work out what works best for you.
  • Be consistent!
No great change will happen if you don't finish the DVD program or if you dont exercise frequently!

These are all great tips - this should be a "read this first" for newbies!
  • If you find that you're a busy person, set an alarm to remind yourself to work out each and every day. (:
    Consistency comes with practice.

"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail"!

Always have low calorie/ healthy go to snacks available. ( even in my purse! )

Try to not skip meals!!! This makes me eat way more during the rest of the day!

Drink half your weight in water daily.

Dafuq? So you mean I should drink 120 pints of water a day? That would only be 40 gallons....

No, obviously not. It's ounces. That 8 cups a day is wrong, you're supposed to drink half your weight. So if you weigh 200lbs you would drink 100 ozs.

set realistic goals and expectations of yourself; that way, if you don't meet them you can't say "well it was so hard, like I could have done it?!"... you're forced to face your failure and gain the strength to improve the next day :)

    1. Learn to eat intuitively - your body has all the answers, it'll tell you when you are thirsty, hungry and when you've gorged yourself. Listen to it. It may need some re-training/re-evaluating from time to time.

    2. Find a sport that you love and challenges you, be adventurous.

    3. Be in love with yourself.
  • Be diligent and honest about counting your calories, whether over or under.

And since people's emotions are the leading cause of failure with weightloss... don't get down on yourself either way.

    agreed.

Educate yourself. The more you learn about exercise and nutrition the better able you will be to craft a plan that works for you.

Maybe this is too obvious, but log your food on MFP. That is what has worked most quickly for me. It took me 4 years to lose about 40 lb before discovering MFP...now have lost more than that in 7 months.
