I'm pissed and have to vent.

For years, and especially the last xx months, I've always enjoyed a Chicken Roti, nice and spicy.
I've looked online and saw one calorie count of 700 calories. I thought I can deal with that, split it up because it is quite heavy and filling.

I now saw this article, and I am pissed that I thought that this was maybe an ok treat.

This article is a vegetable Roti. Substitute the Tofu for Chicken and that's what I have (Yah more calories)
    http://www.healthzone.ca/health/dietfitness/diet/article/855899--the-dish-roti-outrageously-high-in-calories-fat-and-sodium

Sigh. Instead of 2-3 times a month (ok, maybe some months I had 4-5 per month.
It's going to be once or twice a year now.

If you don't go to the link here's the damage
“Now,” she wrote in her email request, “the big mystery that many Torontonian roti lovers wonder about is how healthy is it? And how many calories does this thing pack?”

When I tell her what the lab numbers reveal — 1,482 calories, 73 grams of fat and 3,360 mg of sodium
   :explode:   :explode:

Oh man!! That sure is alot of calories!! When I see stuff like that I always think - AND THAT IS WHY AMERICA IS FAT!! How often would we eat a dish like that (which is enough for a full day's worth of calories) along with regular meals throughout the day. Just a few weeks ago, I tried the new DQ mini blizzard & my husband ordered a large. I didn't have the heart to tell him just how much his blizzard was worth! Incredible!

Peter- I know, some foods really upset me with such a high calorie count. I'm so happy the industry is forcing some eating places to show their calories on their menu. Even mcdonald's shows the calories. There are stills some restaurants that are not doing it.

yeah, gotta love the dvr... what was my life like before this? lol.

so, I'm getting all my energy ready to start a new weight loss training and program to help me lose the rest of this weight from sept till january. I am estimating 10 pounds per month, because well, I think this is a standard number and I don't want to over do it. It is time, things are settled in with my life, and I'm ready to lose the rest of this weight.

    How is everyone doing?

Deb- How's it going? I would actually like to weigh in on a weekly basis, b/c I feel that I need to continue on this weight loss. If you would like, I could do the weekly chart while you are pregnant. I mean, you're basically growing a life inside of you, and probably looking at weight in terms of a monthly basis. You've done such an awesome job with the chart, so just offering my help. :)

    Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. I just got back from my camping trip yesterday so I'm hoping that I didn't do too much damage with the weight loss. I'm starting a new season of ultimate tonight so it should be interesting :)

Mayra I would love to take you up on that offer. I feel my desire to complete the chart going as my weight keeps increasing. I hope that hasn't effected anyone elses motivation! It is definitely hard to forget to weigh in when you are putting it together so it may help your motivation! I will stick around. my nausea is starting to abate so I am going to attempt to start logging foods, again.

Debnu- Please stick around and let us know how things are going. I can put you on the weekly chart, however you would like.
I absolutely love your positive attitude and your great advice. Plus, this is your group since you started it, and I'll just be making the weekly charts. I could sure use the motivation to lose some weight, and logging the weight changes each week will help me further. After the pregnancy, I'll give this chart-making task back to you! ;-) I'm planning my next pregnancy to be in a couple of years, and I plan on being on here on MFP as well to track my food and all.

So, everybody, we'll be doing the same weigh ins like we used to, each friday. Please send me your weigh in this friday, on PM. Let's make this a great month all, and now that school is back on schedule, I think things will be easier with a set routine.

Mayra you are awesome. I didn't really start the group though, I joined in and then took over the chart when it was needed of me. :flowerforyou:

I promise I will stick around, I love the support and advice from this group too. Lets all keep each other going! Remember a healthy life style is a journey. It is a process, not a one time thing. Together we can make it!

I'm back on track with logging foods this week, still working on getting to bed on time to have an early workout. I'm really ready to lose the rest of this weight for this upcoming year. Getting used to my class this semester, and feeling overall on track.

It's been quiet here, where is everybody?

Everyone must be on Holiday still. I wish I was....It is always hard to get back to life after a 3 day weekend.

I was really bad today, I went to the store hungry, after being sick this morning...I bought some really yummy chocolates and ate the whole bag! That isn't healthy at all! I did also buy a bunch of fruit and I am going to make a fruit dip as vegies and fruits with dip are sounding really good right now. We bought a vegie platter for our Labor day festivities and boy did it taste good! Maybe my body likes vegies still after all!:noway:

My daughter had a relapse of anxiety at school yesterday, so we are going to get her back in with the school psychologist. I thought we were doing much better, but this morning it was like pulling teeth to get her out of bed and dressed. We ended up being late. I guess there are worse things than being 10 min late for school. It drives me crazy though!

    Lets stay on track!

Debnu- I bet the fruit dip and veggie dip you're making will counter the chocolate. Plus, Dr. Oz says chocolate is good for you. ;-P I bet the psychologist will give you more advice regarding your daughter's issue. But, for me, I try lessening the sugar, or having sugary foods after a meal, to lessen the sugar imbalance. I would also have her involved in actitives she likes so she's not thinking about the things that give her anxiety, and also find opportunities to have her participate in them. For things like that, I find that practice, practice, practice, helps alot. Sometimes the anxiety is about the unknown and everyone feels it sometimes.

I know, most of my groups have been a bit quiet. I think it's summer break together with the labor day weekend. I can't wait for this month to continue, b/c things will be back to normal with school, and also The biggest loser show will be back for motivation. I did notice I lost most of my weight during the biggest loser season around this time. I'm back for more. Let's do this!

    Hi Blues,

I am around a bit. I just haven't been very vocal on the forums. This week has been a hard week. I've been having a hard time with the whole break up thing again this week for some reason (maybe due to the whole school starting tomorrow and new habits that have to be broken). Another factor is probably the fact that the doctors found some pulps in my mom's stomach and they are now off getting tested. It's a lot of waiting games for me right now.

maneyes- sending well wishes to your mom. Sorry you had to go through the break up, I hope you can find positive things in your life to focus on. Anyhow, there's probably a grieving period.

    Good morning all,

Planning a workout lunch today and will post later after I'm done.

    Have an awesome day everyone!

Mayra thanks for the advice. My daughter is really looking forward to meeting with the school psychologist again. I also know that I have too much sugar around the house. I have come to realize that I really need to focus on healthy meals when she is home. We have her getting school lunch daily now, as she was feeling self concious taking her new lunch box. I decided it was more important for her to feel comfortable at school right now, and not worry about what others think. So we are mainstreaming for lunch right now. So the big thing is to get me more focused on creating healthy foods at home! That would help all of us. I also need to make sure she gets enough sleep and has a regular routine every night. No TV, getting homework and practicing done--by then it seems to be bedtime. The days sure go fast!

maneyes--I wish you all the best. Just remember that you are strong and you can handle anything that comes your way. There will always be something that triggers the grief again, however you can find what works for you to get through it. I will send well wishes your moms way also! The good news is that they found them and they are out--so if anything is wrong they caught it early. My dad had a polyp removed from his colon--it was precancerous, which means he needs to go back in for a colonoscopy sooner than later. It also means I will have to start getting colonoscopies earlier in life--yay.:ohwell:

BTW the fruit dip was excellent--so much so I ate fruit for breakfast. We are having smoked salmon for dinner tonight. Yumm! I must be getting out of the morning sickness a bit, as I can actually think about food a little bit ahead now.
    Have a great day!

Did a 30 minute run in the treadmill today with breaks in between. Got a burn of about 339 calories.

I'm so excited because I can almost see the end of the year coming, and there's a lot I still want to accomplish. Like Jillian Michael says guys, we started strong, let's finish strong. We can do this!

Debnu- I agree, it's more important for her to feel comfortable at school. That fruit dip sounds very good!

I'm back! We had a wonderful time at my nephew's wedding, although it was a lot of time in the car. My grandsons (ages 5 and 2) deserve a medal for traveling so well. I am still tired, so didn't make it back on the boards until today. I started my bell choir for the new school year last night, and tonight I'm going to band practice at the community college. Guess I'd better go work on supper, but wanted to say hi to all!

Holy Crinoly!!! I was gone for an entire week... sorry everyone. The run-down on my absence...

I took Friday off work to start my Labor day weekend off by sleeping in!
Friday was the final weigh in for the family biggest loser challenge, I WON!!! I lost a total of 14.83%, no one else even came close!! I was ssoooo excited. $$$$ for new clothes!!
Sat, Sun & Mon we spent at my Mom's cabin...fun, fun, fun!
I actually has a 5-day weekend as I took Tuesday off as well to take Kati to her first day of 2nd Grade and get caught up on chores around the house. :flowerforyou:
I was back at work yesterday but was VERY busy catching up. There's a reason I rarely take more than a day off at a time, I hate playing catch up. I also spent part of the day yesterday preparing for my daughters Brownie meeting...yep I'm the Leader.
So today was slow paced for me, I've had to unwind from all of the holiday fun! :ohwell:
I love the Friday weigh ins and will be happy to do whatever works best for the group!!

Mayra- glad you are settling into a routine...they make all the difference in the world., looking forward to Biggest loser motivation as well.
Deb- I'm happy to hear the nausea is subsiding!!
Peter- I had a similar situation with Qdoba, it used to be my favorite place for lunch and I miss it but it just isn't working for me anymore!
    Mary- Weddings are my fave!!
Maneyes- Keep your chin up, time will help even when it seems like forever.

Looking forward to weigh in tomorrow!

OnMyWeight- congrats to you for winning the biggest loser challenge. That sure must have been a great motivation to lose some weight.

    Good morning buddies,

I will be working out during lunch today, and will post back later. Let's have a great day all!

I've gotten 1 weigh in so far, so I'll check back later this evening.

Congratulations Randi! You deserve to win. You have been working so hard!

I actually got my daughter to school on time and we rode bikes there today. Miracle!

I need to get to work cleaning house, unfortunately feeling better makes it so I don't have the excuse anymore!

Mayra--I am not going to weigh in on the chart. I will Keep in touch here though. I have been holding steady at 195 this week. I am happy with that!

    HAve a great Friday everyone!
