I read lots of article about IBS but seems there is no specific treatment. So how you deal with it?Conatipation and bloating right after eating I can relate to. I dealt with this for just over 7 years before discovering I have IBS-C0

I cannot eat red meat. You have no idea what happen to my bowl after that!!Prune juice or prunes.. the few times I ever had that issue it worked. Stop being scared of saturated fat, that's an old fashioned way to think. Eat a chicken thigh instead of boring breast and red meat won't kill you or make you fat.0

I have never heard about it. I read lots of article about FODMAP now and I find out that I take lots of things that are high in FODMAPs!
Thank you so much for this valuable information. I am going to start this diet. Wish it works.you could check out the low FODMAP diet, often prescribed to IBS patients. Low FODMAP did help me, for total relief only came once I cut out all meat. For some reason I can't digest it properly and that causes issues.0 -
I do have a suggestion there is a book called the Virgin diet it is written by JJ virgin who is a doctor and she thinks that IBS, digestive problems and weight gain can be caused by eating foods that are highly inflammatory foods. She has designed a 21 day diet that removes the 7 most highly inflammable foods out of your diet and then re introduces them slowly so you can gauge how your body reacts to each one.. You don't have to have all of them that are on the list if you already know that you react to One but she gives you recipes that do not involve any of the seven highly inflammatory foods. She also argues that your system may be reacting to one food that it would not normally react to because you're eating another food that is already irritating it.
hope this helps0 -

I was doing much better before I got pregnant.
Currently I am only monitoring diet very closely (biggest thing for me is NO dairy) and drinking tons of water, walking and taking a stool softener every day (only thing that helps at all that is safe to take while pregnant.)0 -
I got this book today and it is 360 pages, should I read all of it ?

I was having the same problem with gas/bloating/constipation and an upset stomach EVERY time I ate. I did have an ulcer, though I don't know how that would cause all those other issues.
I started taking Digestive Advantage Gas Formula Probiotics and their IBS formula as well, because IBS runs in my family. It made everything worse for a few days (which apparently it does get worse before better), and now I'm doing great.
It's a better probiotic than others because it survives the acidic stomach better to get to the intestines and colonize. It's cheap, too. I pay like $7 at walmart for a 30 day supply.
Also, though, when I don't have enough fat in my diet, I noticed I get more constipated. I think the intestines need the "lube" of dietary fat to keep things moving along.
Hope that helps some!0 -
Thank you so much. I am starting with pro-biotic yoghurt and should wait and see the result...I was having the same problem with gas/bloating/constipation and an upset stomach EVERY time I ate. I did have an ulcer, though I don't know how that would cause all those other issues.

If you follow the plan and it helps, you can start adding categories one at a time to see if you tolerate them. If you don't, restrict again and try another category. A dietitian can help you with this or you can try it yourself. You may find that only certain categories of FODMAPS are a problem for you.0 -
I have problems with bloating, too, but I find that a nice cup of peppermint tea helps settle my stomach. You can read about the positive effects of peppermint on the internet, but it basically just helps digestion and relieves gas issues.0

Does red meat upset your stomach? I haven't eaten it for over a decade for a similar reason.
Here's the thing though. Too much fiber without enough water AND fat can result in constipation. Try upping your fat intake, in general, to see if that makes a difference. As others said, perhaps see a GI doctor--they can run tests, perhaps even take a look. Chronic constipation isn't a good thing, and it's something to get fixed.
As for IBS and living with it (which I do too), you learn to watch trigger foods. Probiotics help. I take a lactaid anytime I eat dairy, and it's a life-changer. Etc. etc.
The bloating after eating could easily be a food intolerance as others said... however, your constipation can be causing this too. Try playing with your macros for a few weeks. Note changes. Try cutting out one food group/item at a time for a few weeks (dairy for two weeks, caffeine for two weeks, etc.). Note changes.0 -
I find a list from this link ( FODMAP diet). It is really hard not to eat all these things

I love Probiotics along with Aloe Vera (470mg capsules), both taken daily. One probiotic AM, and one PM. And, two aloe caps AM, two PM. Gets things moving! But like normal, so no worries there. I starting using this combo 7 years ago and never looked back.0
