Working on client computers who have keyboards that look like this:

This... Ive seen some bad ones but that is disgusting. You need to talk to their manager about destruction of company assets. Why would you let that thing stay?

Honestly, I keep a hammer in my network install bag in the off chance I need one. But I think I may "accidentally" treat that keyboard like a windows ME machine (Smash it to bits).

I do network design and instillations, my advice would be to get certified in whatever field you want to go into. If its networking look into Cisco and microsoft certs, if its general IT look in microsoft and comp tia. Also get any experience that you can, certs used to mean a job but not anymore.

Get better education and skill and get clients who aren't "honey boo boo".

    Good luck on your adventures.

    *gag*

Seems like a reason to buy one you can just carry around with you. How does that even happen?

I purchase latex/non-latex rubber gloves for my staff to wear. Yes, I have seen this, and I have seen much worse, unfortunately. My heart goes out to you.

We teach our kids to "cover your mouth when you sneeze." What happens to your hand after you do that? What do you touch? It's becoming flu season again. This is all too real.

We should be teaching them to couch/sneeze into their elbow or shoulders. That's what I do.

Try being IT in a school district. I touch computers that have been touched by hundreds of children every day. But what's even more gross, the teacher's laptops! Who knows what some of them do with those things at home. No way do I want some of those laptops anywhere near my lap. Gloves and hand sanitizer are my two best friends.

I sit in one of many teleworker cubes semi-weekly and there's a big *kitten* canister of sani-wipes in amost every cube. I use them before and after each shift on the keyboard, mouse, phone, and nearby desk surfaces. Yay "work" for being proactive.

Now if they'd only provide enough IT assets (e.g. keyboards, cables, etc.) for each t-cube so they'd stop growing feet and walking away...

*looks down at 3 year old keyboard*

D@MN. And I wipe it down once a month too. I'm having flashbacks to Gattaca, actually. Maybe I'll bring my Saitek in tomorrow.
