Try washing with an antibacterial wash BEFORE you work out. Doing it after is kind of like closing the barn door once the horse has bolted.0

I have this exact same problem...I could've written your post. I've lost 20 lbs and for the past 6 weeks I keep breaking out right around my mouth only, mostly on the right side. Its very painful...it will start to clear up then bam there it is again. I don't know what to do. I tried a cold sore medicine and that does seem to help some but when I quit using it it comes right back. I never and I mean never have had acne or skin problems, not even as a teenager (I am now 35). I have noticed however that since ive started losing weight that my monthly cycles have gone a bit wonky as well. I thought weight loss was supposed to regulate hormones, not screw them more up than they already were. My infertility dr recommended a weight loss of 20% to normalize hormones and increase fertility. Ha! That is so not happening. I am worse now than ever. I hate this and don't know what to do to fix it. If you figure something out let me know.0

also...maybe irrelevant...but clean your cell and work phone with alcohol wipes.0

A few things; Do you exercise out doors? Sometimes going from cold/wind to warm indoors can cause break outs.
Secondly- be mindful of how much you're touching your face during a work out, quite often if you're sweating, or feel hot you can touch your face more which will spread any bacteria.
Good fats, too as stated.
Sounds ridiculous, but try NOT using many face products, Wash lightly with a warm wash-cloth (no chemicals), and repeat a few times after rinsing if you wear make-up. finish with a good quality moisturiser. If you wear make-up then make sure brushes are cleaned or replaced.
My B/C pill actually made my skin worse, and along with sweating during workouts I've figured the above help loads. Good luck!0 -
I don't want to sound like a jerk, and this is only meant in a matter of fact thing, but you're 32 years old. When you get into your 30s you're going to notice your skin aging compared to when you were in your 20s. That's just how it works. I would bet that the skin blemishes are more related to age than diet.0

Thanks for all the input!
Though some people seem to have missed some of my posts, or misread them.
It's not an issue with blemishes/aging, it's spots
It's not primarily caused by my face wash, I started using that after the breakouts began
I eat plenty of fat
I'm going to try several ideas, primarily using a gentler cleansing routine and upping my water.
To the poster so asked about my weight loss on bc, it's been slow, but I'm only trying to lose vanity pounds so I would expect that. Plus I have pretty regular treat days. My scale is also broken, so I have no idea how much I've lost. I look and feel much better though, breakouts aside0 -
Sorry, OP, I'm no help, I have this issue too... bump for the info!0

Keep eating healthy and drinking water. Your skin will clear itself up0

Are you eating any thing now that you weren't before? Or eating a lot more of it? My daughter breaks out if she eats corn, gluten or dairy and I have another friend who breaks out with just dairy. Even having cream in her coffee with make her break out. Just another angle to think about.0

It may just be the skin working all the crap out of itself. It may also be hormonal. It may also be weather related. It may also be the products you use. There are so many different reasons this might be happening.
I would be careful using a lot of antibacterial products on your face as they may be drying your skin out and your body is over producing oil to compensate.
Make sure you're not over exfoliating, as this will cause flare up too.
Have you ever tried a cleansing oil? Sounds counter productive, but it's a great product for taking off makeup and dirt. I have used the one from MAC, and I like it a lot. Washes off easily and keeps skin from becoming dehydrated.
Hope you get it sorted out0 -
Thanks again.
I'm not eating anything very different, just smaller portions and a greater proportion of nutritionally good stuff. I try to limit wheat as it makes me bloated.0 -

Yes, a clean face before a workout is a good idea, but not with anything antibacterial. Save that for after the workout. Washing your face too much will dry it out and can make your skin worse.
I would clean your face first with a gentle cleansing cloth, and then a more thorough clean after the workout. Again, try gentle products and don't scrub too hard0 -
Look into the possibility of it being perioral dermatitis. I had this for months last year until I finally went to a dermatologist. He said, it has nothing to do with my food and he was right. Though certain foods made it worse, they were not the cause. Because I have sensitive and relatively dry skin, I was using richer creams. The dryer my skin got, the more cream I used, My skin was out of whack and reacted with exzema and pickles, itching and dry spots around nose and mouth. It then spread to my eyes. I had had this a few times over the past 10-20yrs, but I never realized what it was.
Cure: I went off of all creams cold turkey. Looked horrid for a couple of weeks and than a nicer and healthier skin appeared!. I now only use very light, almost fat free creams (if at all) or mineral water sprays. My facial skin now regulates itself and doesn't feel dry and itchy anymore. I'm saving alot of money too, because I don't use all those expensive products anymore ;-)0 -
I also would guess you need some more good fats. I've been pleasantly surprised that my skin looks better than ever before. (although I have also added a good moisturizer to my routine, and Im sure that's involved too....)0

Is it possible that you have an allergy? These can appear suddenly. I was suddenly allergic to shell fish, certain types of nuts and strawberries to name a few things. I break out with red bumps and splotches around my mouth and chin. I now know it and apply a cortision cream which helps.0
