    [. . .]

I not unhappy with them and I do eat those things a lot but I wonder how the list is populated? Butter, heavy cream, and beef are just a few things that come to mind that I know I eat more frequently than say strawberries and tuna fish.

    [. . .]

Pretty sure based on my own list and diary that it is simply based on how often it - the specific item listed, including brand / description - appears in your diary; nothing to do with actual calories, nor with "food groupings" -- i.e., I eat me some Yoplait light yogurt most mornings, but vary the flavors. If I recorded them as "Yoplait light yogurt" it'd be my top item for sure (well . . . maybe tequila would be a challenger), but because they are listed as "Yoplait - Peach" and "Yoplait - Strawberry" etc. they don't all appear.

Your "beef" might be different cuts / types of beef in your diary? My daily vitamin, my butter substitute, my coffee creamer, and my tequila are always the exact same brand / name with just the amount varying on a daily basis, so they appear just about every day and make up a very boring "10 most frequent foods" list. Well, except for the tequila

Bleh, not happy since there's 2 snack types in there but really, have to give myself credit since it was portions of each and not just sitting there with a large bag/box. Otherwise, yes, I can live with my 10 =)
    Fruit - Banane (Petite)
Sun Chips - Harvest Cheddar - 3.25 Oz. Bag
mexi chicken black beans (my recipe serves 6, 1lb ground chicken, 1 knorr mexican rice (no oil), 1 can organic black beans and 1 c of shredded cheddar cheese. Brown meat, stir in rice blend/water, cook 5 mins and add in beans and cook another 5.)
Kraft - Light Balsamic Vinagrette (With Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
Chicken - Breast, meat only, cooked, roasted

Yeah, this looks to me like the way the list is generated, which leads to mine being dominated by foods that don't come in brands and flavors, because I tend to go with a lot of variation and only have a few products (such as peanut butter) where I have strong brand loyalty. Of all the items that were ever in my top 25 most frequent, the one that really made me proud was tortilla chips, because I'd only had one bag in the house since I'd been using MFP, which meant that instead of eating the bag in two sittings, which would have been pretty typical in the past, I managed to eat much smaller amounts at any one time, so it was more like 7 or 8 separate entries in my diary.

    My current top 10 list:

Coffee, brewed from grounds (about the only thing I have as an entry almost every day)
    Salt
    Banana
    Apple, raw with skin
    Diet Coke
    Nature's Promise organic 1% milk
    Vegetable - tomato, whole, fresh
    Add - potassium
    Lemon juice, raw
Blue Diamond - Coffee Almonds - roasted coffee flavor

I am too dumb to find the most frequent foods list. I can pull up the frequent foods by meal but they're just alphabetized, not in order or frequency. Help a sister out?

If you're using the web site (sorry, I don't know the answer for the app), click on "add food" under a meal, look just under the search box for the line that says, "Or, add your favorites for:" which will be followed either by the name of a specific meal or by "All Meals." If it has the name of a specific meal, click on the little arrow (triangle) after the name of the meal so you can change it to "All Meals." Then click on the "Frequent" tab. Just above the various tabs should be a line that says "Sort by:" followed either by "Default" or "Name." If it says "Name, " click on the arrow so you can change it to "Default," which will sort the list by frequency of entries.

    Mine are:
    Tea with semi skimmed milk
    Butter (ha)
    Special K Original
    Olive oil
    Semi-skimmed milk
Fat free raspberry yoghurt (Danone Activia)
    Northeast stottie
    Pure squeezed orange juice
    Onions
    Carrots

The tea and butter are what I expected. I cannot figure out how the Special K and semi-skimmed milk got separated by olive oil, as the milk always goes on the Special K! I do a lot of cooking from scratch, so the rest of the list tends to be raw veg ingredients. The only one on the list that isn't so great is the stottie - a bread from the North-East made with lard! But it's my favourite treat :)

You all are pretty darn healthy. Mine's less interesting because I'm a creature of habit and pretty much have the same or similar breakfasts.

But notable in my top 10 is . . . TEQUILA

Thank goodness! I was afraid I was the first person to include alcohol in my top 10!

Eggs, carrots, peanut butter, beef, chicken, beer, cheese, milk, broccoli, and apples

eta: I don't really think of being "proud" of my food. I eat it because its what I like, and that includes the birthday cake and donuts I enjoyed today
