Never been to one, but if I were to ever attend one, I would soooo wear one that lights up  P.S. I don't know how true this is but I heard certain stores have an "ALL SALES ARE FINAL," policy on their "ugly sweaters"

    Oh my! That's pretty bad!

You know,I never thought of that. I don't plan on returning my "lovely" sweater vest, but ill bet others do.

I'm told that the thrift stores sell out of otherwise unsellable sweaters at this time of year.

Thrift Stores have some AMAZING finds...I'm sure you'll look lovely in your sweater vest (we make the clothes, the clothes don't make us right? ) Have a wonderful time!

I made one last year and won a gift card. :) It was pretty horrendous!
I'll have to go take a picture.

    Oversized plain red sweatshirt
Cut out green felt in the shape of a Christmas tree
Hot glued tinsel, jingle bells, pom poms, and a huge bow on it
...there were jingle bells glued down on both arms too
Shredded cotton balls for the snow
Added gold glitter glue just because I like sparkles

    It was gloriously tacky!

I host an ugly Christmas sweater party each year, and am the proud owner of a homemade ugly Christmas sweater! I got it from Goodwill a while back - it was a giant black sweater with a few white bows on the knit design. So I added a fur trim, beads, glittery pointsettias, gems - you name it! Every year it gets pretty beat up and loses a few decorations, but that just means I get to add more the following year. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without my awesome Christmas leggings:

I'm going to my work ugly sweater party, I have the idea in my head and partly done making it, that's what I'll be doing this weekend is finishing it. When I'm done I'll post a pic.

My idea is I bought a bunch of thrift store sweaters and I'm cutting them up and sewing them together along with felt shapes and extras. With big gotye xmas buttons and trim around the bottom.

I have never been to an ugly Christmas jumper party - but we did have a standard Christmas jumper party at uni. It was fun :-)

    Yay!

Just a thought, but if you are hosting one don't you think you should turn the heat down in the house? With all those bodies and woolly sweaters with tons of tinsels I bet it can get too hot. That was my thought if I ever hosted one.

You are very right! We always end up opening a window because I have a pretty small apartment, so I always turn off the heat the morning of the party.

so, it turns out that my friend and co-worker does not yet have a sweater and she's going to trust ME to decorate one for her. I was looking for ideas when I came across this atrocity:

Okay... Just finished my friend's sweater.

I think it's ugly, but also tacky.
    Thoughts?

Awwww... There was a trend not too long ago that Christmas sweaters got super gaudy.
The sweaters are meant to poke fun at that.
