sorry dumb question.. but i always hear about leg day and i have no clue what it is.

Leg day can mean different things to different people.
Most commonly "leg day" refers to strength training focused on lower body muscles.
Squats are probably the most common focus on leg day although there are a large number of possible exercises0 -

bench, ohp, and curls usually for me because i am resting my legs on that day (leg day)0

Leg Day...or the day that many people do squats, lunges, or RDLs...is typically the day *before* eating Mexican foods, not after. Just sayin.'
