    OP, you would get a lot more interaction if there was a "don't like" option for your statuses.

    OP, do you require that IRL interactions with your IRL friends be verbal communication? Or do you accept body language (smiles, nod of the head, a kiss, wink, etc) as interaction?

    To me, the "like" button is non-verbal, virtual body language. If you need verbal "attaboys" and "wow, you're awesome", or constant acknowledgement from your friends, you are probably way to needy for my tastes.
