    Definitely a great post.

One other perspective that this made me think of - some of us (aka, me) tend to beat ourselves up over missing a workout or enjoying a celebratory meal or something like that. Reminding yourself that everything is a choice and a prioritization helps put that stuff into perspective as well. Just as saying "I chose not to work out tonight because I decided I'd rather watch my favorite TV show" helps frame that choice with a little more clarity, so does "I chose not to work out tonight I've really missed my kids this week and wanted to spend some extra time with them" or "I chose to go over my calorie goal by 500 tonight because I was celebrating a great promotion I got at work with some excellent company and some delicious, well-worth it food." This process is about learning BALANCE. Our health and weight goals need to be a priority in our lives, but they don't need to be top priority every second. I'd argue that it's ok to feel guilty about choosing TV over the gym, but it's not ok to feel guilty about choosing family or truly important moments over diet and exercise. Figure out where on your priority list you want your diet and exercise to fall, then make the choices that keep it there. It's the only way to make this a sustainable, life-long change.

This is a fantastic post. I usually realize to an extent that I am making an excuse and making a choice, but not quite so CLEARLY. Thank you for this.

Tagging this to have it in my timeline. Also, it's a great philosophy outside of just fitness--it reminded me of one of my friends, who is now in Philly with her 8 year old son while he goes through chemo (he has neuroblastoma). Previously, she had breast cancer. She makes choices all the time--most notably she makes the choice not to let cancer ruin any single day that she has with her family.
