I had a personal trainer once that told me to not eat fruit after 2 p.m. because fruit takes 14 hours to digest..now I have no idea of any truth to this and I never researched it. I eat fruit daily and have been steadily losing weight so I'd suggest to still get your servings of fruit in and try it out for a while and see if you still lose. Good luck to you!
  • My vote is your "dietician" isn't a dietician.

A dietician you should be taking advice from is someone who is registered, if they are not covered under your health plan then I wouldn't listen to them.

They also follow the food pyramid or food guide. Which tells you to eat 5-8 vegetables or fruit a day.

Lol. If this was true you would get drunk everytime you ate fruit.

This comment added no value and belittled the OP. Seems we were able able to figure out what she was referring to despite her grammar.
That sentence doesn't even make sense grammatically.

Sounds like it's time to find a new dietician. Fruit can be a very healthy part of your diet, and you should eat the fruits you enjoy, as long as you're not allergic and they fit into your macros.

    This :)
    Good luck!
  • Sounds like your dietician is into the "food combining" school. They have lots of rules about what should and shouldn't be eaten for health effects and meal preparation. However, certain diets (like some paleo versions) do suggest dropping fruit for quicker weight loss.

I was just about to say this. It may be a food combo plan that your dietician is attempting. I did one many, many years ago where I did not mix my breads/potatoes with my meats in the same meal. A 'new' study had shown that the enzymes that break down bread/grains counteract the enzymes that break down protein and cancel each other out. It worked for me, I lost 20 lbs. Unfortunately, when I tried again many years later, it did not work. Perhaps ask your dietician for evidence/studies showing the effectiveness of this plan or where s/he got their info so you can research it yourself.

What school did she go to? I won't recommend that one to anyone.

If you have a problem with yeast in your body that can cause fruits and sugars to essentially ferment in your body creating toxins.

There is no human medical condition that will allow a person to consume grapes and produce wine in their stomach.

I am not trolling. I dont know if he has or not. he told me no fruit no milk no yogurt no cheese.... only egg whites... im not joking but i feel its a scam
Follow your gut. It's a scam. Eat fruit everyday, especially to soothe your sweet tooth.

NO. Fermentation takes several days--if the fruit is moving so slowly through the digestive canal, that it ferments along the way, that person would have a problem that was much larger than what he/she was eating. Having said that, there could be issues with fruit if you have a problem with fructose. However, the amount of fructose in fruit compared to something like a bottle of soda pop is tiny anyway.

No. I'd dump the dietician. You can eat anything you want as long as you eat at a deficit.

High yeast has been proven to make someone have a brewery in their gut, but it is VERY rare and shouldn't be a reason to stay away from fruit.

The dietician who tells you to stay away from fruit needs to be avoided as well.

Sounds like your so called dietician went to either the University of You Tube or Google University and cherry picked his or her data.

Fruit is actually very good for you and contains healthy fibre that pushes stuff through your system.

Have to admit... not gone thru all the answers, but my first (knee jerk) reaction is that the OP miss-heard/miss-interpreted her dietition... happens all the time <sigh>

Is this person a registered dietitian? Do they have credentials of any kind? This sounds questionable to me.

No dietitian would ever say that. I suspect a "nutritionist."

It sounds like the paleo diet. You are also supposed to avoid beans, legumes, carrots (because they are sweet), and anything white.

    I think you're right.

Btw, if the fruit sugar was fermenting in your stomach, you'd be getting awfully drunk off of the process.

    Paleo is racist.
