toning with weights.. its complicated. appreciate advice

    I would recommend isometric exercises. Clients that I have trained that had RA seemed to do well with it. Since you're in total control of the resistance, you'll know if you can increase it or back off.
    I've heard that yoga might be good to.

    I just want to say best of luck and keep pushing :) I have a couple or three issues that make me have to get creative, but I've figured out a way for most of it! I don't know much about RA so I can't be of much help with ideas, but brainstorm and keep an open mind.

    Bellydance of all things is one thing I do for certain muscles I can't work with weights at all, lol. And I do a lot of backbends with no arms so I don't have to use them like I would in other strength moves (I work most of my back with no arms because of my problem). Weird stuff like that is something to run by your PT, imho :)
