Hi. My name is Cynthia, and I am addicted to peanut butter. I eat peanut butter crackers, peanut butter and apples for breakfast, peanut butter and celery for snack, Nature Valley granola and peanut butter squares for snack......and I find that I can stay within my calories during the day because I weigh out the peanut butter for each day. HOWEVER, when I am weighing at the peanut butter at night for the next dat, I can't help but to eat a good 4 huge spoonfuls of it before I realize it....and there went my calorie count for the day. ALL BECAUSE OF SOME D@MN PEANUT BUTTERRRRRRRR!

So, how bad is it eating peanut butter like that? Everyone says peanut butter is good for you! I need to go to PB Anonymous!

Everything is good in moderation. With that I think I'll go make myself a peanut butter sandwich.

My aunt always told us that lack of PB in the diet is what makes people cranky! Just be careful of eating it when you haven't accounted for it! (I can't offer much help with THAT until I get it under control, also:blushing: )

this is funny! i love PB too... but maybe iʻm not as crazy about it as you are. lol. what kind do you eat?
  • Have you tried PB2?? It's powdered peanut butter. You mix 2 tbsp. of the powder with one tbsp. of water until it's the consistancy of normal peanut butter. I think it tastes exactly the same... AND it's only 45 calories for two tablespoons ---> which is more like 3 tbsp. of normal peanut butter that is 190 calories for two tablespoons. SUCH a good deal and so easy to make!! :)

I'm a peanut butter addict also, can't go a day without it. Nice to know I'm not alone. I like Kraft Light
  • HA HA! I just threw away my big container of honey roasted peanuts because I would sit and eat multiple "servings" and there would go my calories for the day! Maybe try the reduced fat version, just to try to keep the fats at a minimum (even if they are the good kind! Plus, you could weigh out little individual dishes for a whole week and that way you only indulge once a week! Good luck kicking the habit! :)
  • I too LOVE peanut butter. I have a jar in my desk at work and sometimes if I'm really hungry I'll have a spoonful while working at my desk. It really grosses my co-worker out. They have peanut butter shakes at the UDF here. They are AWESOME! But they are also very limited in my world as they defeat my goal here. But soooooooo good.

Not to fuel the fire, but have you tried the stuff from Peanut Butter & Co? It's FANTASTIC! White Chocolate PB, Cinnamon Raisin PB, Chocolate PB, yeahhhhh *drool*

One of my favorite snacks is peanut butter on bread with sliced banana (and pb on a kashi honey almond flax granola bar is killer, too)

PB anon--sign me up! Lately I haven't indulged too much (on account of a really nice, dense lemon cake that will go bad if I don't eat it ASAP)... although now that you mention it, a nice spoon of PB would be really tasty right now. Mmm!
  • im so addicted to pb. i love it. so much. i could live on it. my favorite is peanut butter nobakes. now i want some peanut butter. i will NEVER give up peanut butter. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. mmm.

I just discovered PB2, and I'm hooked! Definitely wonderful for apple-dipping, and you can make it any consistency you like by adding a little bit more water. It's a great option for making chocolate-peanut butter milk shakes too. Yummy! :)

Too funny - I just had two tbsp right out of the jar right before I read this!

    haahaa!

    Love me some peanut butter!
  • Peanut butter is fine.. in moderation!

DON'T switch to the "light" version, it just has more sugar! You're far better off eating fat than sugar, just think of your insulin levels :)

1 tablespoon if perfect before or after a meal, as it has been shown to assist in decreasing portion sizes.. but if you can't stop at just one, perhaps you'e better off not buying it. How about raw almonds? I know they're not as tasty, but the less guilt, the better!

Remember, what you eat is just the habit you have formed over the years and it can be changed.. but you just have to take the power back. Good luck!

I love my PB too!! I eat the Natural PB and I measure it (not just by the tablespoon but on my food scale by weight!! 1 T. = 16g) You'd be surprised how many more calories you can get in a rounded tablespoon.

I buy Kroger Natural Crunchy PB or Natually More PB. I add it to my oatmeal and yogurt. Just make sure you're adding it to your daily total and eat a variety of other foods.

http://www.bellplantation.com/ It's great to add to yogurt, oatmeal, or smoothies. I don't like it as well mixed w/ water. The chocolate PB2 is amazing!
  • Peanut butter is one of the best inventions by man. Period. I too am crazy addicted, sadly, no advice for overcoming it, im deep in the addiction.
  • Ditto to PB anonymous! I eat a slice of light whole wheat bread toasted every morning with 1 tablespoon of reduced fat peanut butter and later on in the morning a half peanut butter sandwich with same amounts of PB. It keeps my stomach from having that empty feeling and I work it into my calories every day. :drinker: (I'm lifting the jars of peanut butter!)
  • haha, and drinking out of one of them, im sure if we could find a way to soften the consistancy a little so it dribbles out of the container we'd drnk it, kinda like how it goes gooey and soft on hot toast!!!!!

I tried it but couldn't stand it! I'd much rather go for the real stuff or PB2!! Maybe it's an aquired taste?
