I think 50 will be doable for you, but that is considerably small. Try to look at it as a long term goal.

Everyone is different, so it is hard to say how you will look when you are done losing the weight.

How bad is it? It's probably not as bad as you think it is... it's hard to say exactly how bad you think it is... so while I wouldn't be walking around in a bikini (understand that I don't wear bikinis out in public anyway), I wouldn't miss out on taking my little ones swimming over it. In the mean time (while you are working on losing the weight) there is a variety of shapewear out there to help you feel more confident. A lot of bathing suits have tummy control panels, and personally I love swimdresses for hiding hips and tops of thighs.

Additionally, society cuts new moms a lot of slack for the first few years after the baby, so people will have a gentler opinion on "how bad" it is.

Overall, I would say you feel that you have some work to do, and you know where you want to get to. Chose a path, and stick with it. :flowerforyou:

Thanks, I feel like there is a crazy amount of pressure to be the perfect fit/fun/adorable Pinterest hipster mom (I live in Portland Oregon, it's kinda 100% our thing) and I know I am hard on myself but i needed a little help to see just how hard I was being. 50 may not be my end game, it's really just my arbitrary goal, right now I'm trying to find a balance between eating at a deficit in a healthy way for me, without accidentally putting my son at a deficit (I don't want to tell my two year old that he can't have Mac and cheese anymore because mommy isn't eating pasta right now. Ya know?)

Actually thank you to everyone who responded whether you think it's not that bad, or pretty dang you've all been crazy helpful.

also, it will be setting a better example for your son if you say, mommy is eating pasta right now, but only eating a small amount because it's important to only eat as much as you need, and not more just because it tastes good. Kids need to learn just as adults do, that it's not about deprivation, but moderation.

He's a very good boy when it comes to eating, he always eats his veggies without a fight and stops eating when he gets full. His only real problem is he sees his dad drink a lot of soda, and even if I don't let him drink any yet (cause he's flipping two) I am worried he'll develope his dad's bad soda problems.

Your stomach is a normal stomach for someone who is considerably overweight. You probably have a good deal of dangerous visceral fat and you want to get rid of it.

Exercise is "not" the answer. You simply need to eat the right foods and the right amount of those foods. Do away with processed foods and eat natural and, if you can, organic foods. I don't know your height and weight but it looks like you might need to lose from 20 to 50 pounds. I may be way off on that.

But the key is in your diet. No junk food. No sodas, diet or otherwise. Eat clean. You can get rid of that stomach in perhaps a year but it will take effort.

    Yeah, okay. whatever. (eyeroll)

Eat a varied diet in moderation. Don't stress over that crap.

lost almost 6olbs while eating 'junk' food, diet soda, 'dirty' foods, and everything else I liked eating. But, I did learn about portion sizes and what a calorie deficit is, (and then stayed within that deficit). I'm now maintaining that loss, while still eating whatever kinds of food I want, and my stomach is pretty darn good looking, especially for a mom who's had three kids :drinker:

maintained for 10+ years while eating pretty much whatever I liked, just in moderation. Went out drinking with friends sometimes, out for breakfast at 3 am, had two kids.

the stress of trying to eat 'clean' will make your life much harder than just eating what you like in moderation.

I can see why you'd want to get rid of it, but I've seen worse.

Keep these pictures with you at all times, so you can refer back. Use them as your motivation.

Listen to DamePiglet and the others. Eat mostly nutritious/healthy foods but allow yourself the treats you enjoy as long as you are maintaining a deficit. And while you can lose weight without exercise, adding in exercise will help you shape your body so you may like your look without having to lose as much (refer to my earlier post).

Edited because I can't spell people's names :grumble:
