Do you plan to change your look as you lose weight?

I've changed quite a lot since losing weight.

I maintain my hair at a certain length, something I didn't do when fat.

My wardrobe consists of mostly uniquely colored and/or patterned button-downs, polos, and T-shirts, whereas before it was sweats and hoodies. My pants are more than just loose fitting jeans... I now wear colors (red, blue, green, black, orange, rust...), and the fit is a lot more refined, not baggy. I wear a lot of dressy casual pants like chinos, and slim fitting cargos...

And yes, I've had my teeth whitened. I wear a more jewelry as well (watches, necklaces, rings, etc).

I had one pair of beat up casual shoes... now I have a legion of both shoes, sneakers, and boots, of both casual, fashionable, and dressy varieties. I spend more time picking out the shoe for the outfit than the outfit.

In many ways, I'm not the same person now. I don't feel like that other guy, anyway. My hygiene habits have even improved (from "no habit" to "every day, sometimes twice.")

It's amazing what a ton of self confidence can do for a person.
  • Yes! I plan to change my wardrobe of course and try a shorter hair cut and color. I also plan to get contacts. I used to do those things before but I got depression and stopped taking care of myself so here I am.

A little bit. I don't dye my hair and I already try to keep my teeth white. I'm growing out my hair to be able to put it in a ponytail, but I cut my own, so a new hairstyle isn't something I'm going to try since I'll probably mess it up really bad. I do plan on changing my wardrobe. I'm hoping to get back down to my own size, but the clothes were from when I was clubbing and partying in college (not too long ago, but long enough!). I plan on buying more ladylike things that are classic with just a bit of flash, rather than the other way around. I've found a few great fashion blogs that really emulate the type of look I'm hoping to go for, so I'm pretty excited to start getting some new things. But I'm also trying to bring other things up to date. I've been tailoring my flare and bootcut jeans into straight and skinnies, recutting some old shirts into new styles, and adding some accessories to bring ahead a few years. I like reusing things. But I do plan on getting some brand spanking new swimsuits!

Nope, I am pretty happy with my existing style and was always the type to do things (teeth whitening, cosmetics, etc) even at my HW. The only big changes I've made and will continue making are clothing items...for example, I never used to like narrow leg jeans, knee length skirts/shorts, tops and jackets that hit at the waist or top of the hip, etc...and due to weight loss those styles look better on me than my old go-tos like cardigans, long skirts, baggy pants.

Yup. But it's mostly clothing-related. Now I'm going to wear what I want, instead of whatever fits, and IDGAF if anyone thinks I'm too old to dress like this.

I may cut my hair short and get laser hair removal for super smooth legs, etc. I figure extra motivation to show off my hot bod will be extra motivation to keep my hot bod ;-)
  • I'd like a haircut and highlights as I haven't had my hair done properly for almost five years! Spray tan, teeth whitening and belly button pierced. :)

I love my hair long, so no haircut for me! I think dropping the weight and wearing nicer, smaller clothes will make a huge difference in my look, so I don't have anything else more dramatic planned.

I have always had long hair, and I would like to cut it short when I reach goal. I'll probably get another tattoo also!

I want the arm lift and teeth bleeching also
  • Not while losing, other than the obvious of changing up my wardrobe as things don't fit (and usually they have to be beyond big due to the cost of replacing clothes). I've been contemplating a tattoo, so maybe that will be a reached goal thing, if I find something I'm willing to permanently put on my body (I'm a bit of a chameleon). Keep hair long for Renaissance Faires and color it as needed, or as I decide I need to change up the color.
  • As for me, I am thinking of doing sexy red hair color for spring/summer, brighten the teeth, and of course, new clothes!:flowerforyou:

I noticed while coming down from my highest weight to my current weight that my wardrobe has expanded out to all the colors of the rainbow. Previously while severely over weight I only wore dark colors, not my closet is very colorful. Something that I want to do when I get to my goal weight is to get my belly-button pierced. :) I love my long hair and could never imagine cutting it again.

I'm down about 50 lbs (10 lbs before I started MFP). Yesterday I donated 12" of my hair, so that's a pretty big change.

Going for a short haircut. I've never had it shorter than my jawline.

    The one on the right!!

    I hadn't planned on it.

    Buuuut then I did.

(for the curious, that's -71lb, +two tattoos (one is a snowflake on my ankle), +3 piercings (lip, both nipples), -about a foot and a half of hair, +red dye (obvs), +new glasses (though I also got contacts), +493485345345 metric tons of confidence.)

You look awesome! I like short hair but it wouldn't suit me now with my pleasantly round face so maybe a new look for me would be a new hairstyle.

I really haven't changed my looks since I hit goal. I attempted wearing dresses and heals, but I realized I am way too much of a tom boy. LOL, I was so uncomfortable and could never get used to that type of apparel. I have thought about changing my hair style though.

My plan is: Lose 8kgs get my fingers/knuckles tattooed. Lose another 8 and I will get my chest tattooed, and then the last 5-8kgs I will get my belly button pierced :) I will probably add in a few little treats along the way, like a new dress, hair extensions or whatever.. But that is the basic idea :)

Just a new wardrobe and maybe a tattoo!
  • I did, I got a hair cut, but I had really long hair for someone my age working in an office. No one walks to talk to the fat guy with a pony tail.

the change from the dingly-dangly L sized t-shirts to a little "tighter" size M is a big enough change for me so far
