Okay, unlike other people I don't have enough money for a gym or weights so I need some ideas to make substitute weights and exercises like the bench press.

Yes you can also use YouTube..but You Are Your Own Gym lays out a 10 week program for you, talks you through it, tracks your progress, etc. I don't have to figure out which exercises to do on what days. I almost never pay for apps, and I bought this one.0 -
^ Alright, I'll give it a try. Is it customizable? Here's a free bodyweight routine.

I love nerdfitness.com. He has multiple workouts that use your own body weight or household items as weights. If you buy anything with a twist-on lid, you can fill it with water or sand to the weight of your choice. Good luck!0

^ I checked it out, it looks like something I could definitely use, especially in regards to substitute weights.doyogawithme.com has free yoga workouts.
Gonna probably need this to be flexible for what I plan on doing.0 -
You will have to watch ads before each work out, but this woman is awesome! I have done some of her workouts and they are hard! She makes it look easy but don't be fooled.

Walmart has dumbells priced very reasonable. Pick up 2, 3 or 5 pounders and watch some youtube to get some ideas. I do a routine that includes super 7's. light weights and lots of reps ='s strength.0
-
I successfully increased my strength using an earlier version of this program.

You can get the Kindle edition of You are Your Own Gym for $10.
If you can't do that you may be able to find it at the library.0 -

Actually by definition that is endurance training, not strength.0 -
Not the OP, but thank you all for mentioning this app - no idea it existed and looks like something I could definitely use!0

My sis uses water bottles and figured out the weight per bottle. Started with those little ones and moved up to 1 litre bottles pretty quickly.
This is why those old encyclopedia books cannot really be replaced by Wikipedia - a couple of those would be a few pounds.
I also know people who fill containers with sand - or more precisely the leg of a pair of tights, tie off the end when they weigh what you want and you can wrap them around your arms or legs.0
