You can get the Kindle edition of You are Your Own Gym for $10.

If you can't do that you may be able to find it at the library.

Walmart has dumbells priced very reasonable. Pick up 2, 3 or 5 pounders and watch some youtube to get some ideas. I do a routine that includes super 7's. light weights and lots of reps ='s strength.

Actually by definition that is endurance training, not strength.

Not the OP, but thank you all for mentioning this app - no idea it existed and looks like something I could definitely use!

My sis uses water bottles and figured out the weight per bottle. Started with those little ones and moved up to 1 litre bottles pretty quickly.

This is why those old encyclopedia books cannot really be replaced by Wikipedia - a couple of those would be a few pounds.

I also know people who fill containers with sand - or more precisely the leg of a pair of tights, tie off the end when they weigh what you want and you can wrap them around your arms or legs.

www.startbodyweight.com is a totally free bodyweight training program that needs a bare minimum of equipment to do. No app, but a lot of support through his website.

Just to add - you can't buy anything for $3 in Europe - you might as well spend it on the app...

mountain climbers would probably fit under that. I think there's burpees too.

Yes, another method would be milk jugs filled with sand or water. If you are good, I hear you can use them as dumbells.

Also a broomstick can work as a light barbell if you want to do squats and things.

how do you get the weights to stay on the stick?

I didn't really mean to connect those two thoughts. It was more of a "Here is a dumbell suggestion" and "Here is a barbell suggestion" rather than a "Attach your milk jugs to your broomstick" suggestion.

I think I just confused myself...

Do you have small children?? I used my kids as weights. One is 35lbs and the other 50lbs. They are good for wall squats, planks, leg press, bench press, etc. Lol. And the kids love it.
