serious honest answer...
it was coffee....i had been on many first dates...the ones that had been a meal were torturous. I was stuck being polite in a situation that was obviously not working. I was getting tired of the dating scene...and I was thinking about quitting for a while. when he asked me out, I said lets do coffee...
i was thinking 30 minutes tops...we'd meet, something would be wrong or off of just plain awful...(like the guy who told me to call him Sir Joseph when I met him so when I asked him 'is your name Joseph and do you like SCA (society of creative anachronism) or something?" He said nope...name's chad and I just like the word Sir, and Sir Chad sounds stupid, so Im Sir Joseph...you can call me that..." .....ALL my dates were like that...
so i'm thinking this 30 minute coffee is going to fall into the same catagory...but at least I'll escape early...
2 hours later we're still talking and I finally remembered to check the time because I had a babysitter at home...
He's the love of my life and that first coffee date allowed us the least amount of pressure to really relax and just meet.
but really...the one who said Anal has it...
that's fantastic for a first date.0 -
I'm not a woman, but I would recommend:
Taco Bell, frequent groping and a genitalia pic later that evening.
Report back with results.0 -
The first one, right after marriage.0

My first date with my current boyfriend...a 2 day road trip to Nashville, TN and Rock City. Totally amazing.0

Coffee...something extremely low pressure and friendly. It probably depends on the person and how long you've known them though. If you've been friends with her for a long time, a big first date could be a good idea. If it's someone you met off line, the less pressure the better. There's always tomorrow if you guys are totally smitten0

Apple picking!
Some fun activity where you aren't completely alone, less threatening, and there's stuff to do in case it is super awkward and can't think of conversation to fill up an entire evening. In the afternoon so you don't feel obligated to do the "want to come over for coffee" thing. Not a movie because you don't get to talk at all.
Be creative!0 -
Trail riding with a fellow horse person.
Absolute no's; sports events of any type, bars. I never go to either.
Horse person?
I am still bursting in laughter in my office..  :laugh:0 -
Depends on who you go out on a date with. I would love to go out for some ice cream or coffee...thats what me and hubby did when we first started dating.
Also, bike rides with him in rain...0 -

BEER
it has to be from a craft brewery and I would prefer a porter or stout but IPA will do also.0 -
Beer, nachos, and some MMA0

I think going out to eat is horribly awkward for a first date. I'd say something outdoors, or grab a coffee and go on a walk. Nothing too fancy or awkward there!
There might be depending on where the walking is taking place..pass a coffee shop, plenty of bistro chairs there! Or benches in a park? :laugh:0 -
I don't see sex in any of these responses. :noway:0

+1
A sports bar or pub, somewhere cozy, that still allows you to talk without having to yell. Or maybe a chill wine lounge or something. The first date is about getting to know the person, so nothing intricate is necessary.0 -

Well, where are you taking me first?0 -
Ideal first date
Sushi.
Out for a beer or two.
Shoot pool or play trivia in a bar.
Talk in said bar until 2 am.
Make out immediately outside of the bar.
Realize I've had too much to drink and toss cookies in the bushes.
Fuzzy

Wake up with his dog licking my face.0 -

McDonalds.
You like the dollar menu right? :laugh:0 -

Meet you in SoBE, on the beach in front of the Tides .....say 2pm on Sunday?0 -
I really enjoyed a first date at a wine and cheese bar - they had cheese fondues and wine , Soft music playing so you can have a nice conversation.
Mini golf is always fun0 -

Um... good question.
It's not about the place, or how much money we spent.
It's about the connection. Before i go on an official date i like to get to know someone (usually though the internet because that's society now~!) but it gives you a good feel on if you have a connection and if you have things in common. From there you find something you both would like to do. If not, honestly just going for a walk to have this conversation to get to know each other is nice. I mean it's a first date after all, you should not expect something so grand when you're just getting to know someone. That comes down the line when you really like someone, then you dote on one another in whichever way you know will be loved xD0 -

My best first date was just touring around West Edmonton Mall. We looked at all the stores, played with the puppies at the pet store, played some mini golf, skated, tried on some lingerie (me not him lol) and went to the imax movie. A full day not too exciting, not boring, with lots of chances to talk and discover what each other likes and dislikes.0

Connection is the important thing. If there is chemistry and everything just feels right then anything can be fun. Though a movie is a big no no..as you can't talk. Save that one for a later one and one where you can make out!!
First date....talk, maybe a coffee, go for a walk...and avoid a place with shellfish or ribs or other messy food!! :laugh:0 -

Truthfully? I would just take you to do what I normally do on a Friday or Saturday night: steak, copious amounts of whisky, and live music. :flowerforyou:0
