I accept YOUR apology. thanks for being quick with it. and also cool in general. or else it would be harder. that's a thing. case in point...0 -
I LOVE all the video additions on here. I just wish I was computer savvy enuf to be able to do that.
I just got a kettlebell to do some strength training with that came with a video. I like it, but boy, does it ever kick my *kitten*. Makes me realize just how out of shape I am ... as if I didn't know to begin with. It has 3 weights to it, 5#, 8# and 12# that snap on and off. I think it'll be good for my purposes. I'm realizing it'll be a while before I will even be able to add the next weight on.
Good luck with your training. I REALLY wish I could add a good video here )0 -
Your back should not hurt after strength training...maybe check out some form videos for the exercises you're doing.
Back injury before even starting anything. Never going to get better even with strength training.
Okay. Well, then I got nuthin'. I do hope you can find a routine that doesn't exacerbate it.0 -
tacos?
GREAT! Now I want a taco!0 -
As much as I would love to help I just remember you being needlessly mean and contentious in thread after thread so I can't bring myself to do it this time. Congratulations on finding the joy of resistance training and I wish you good health.
Funny I didn't ask for help. Did I? I didnt ask for advice, help or anything actually.
All I did was make a post saying sorry it took me so long (basically) to get to strength training. I don't have to explain anything or ask for anything. I got this MY way. :yawn:0 -

OP - if you really want to strength train I recommend joining a gym so that you can lift heavy using compound movements, or getting the equipment to do this at home = barbell, bench, power rack, dumbbells…0

Have you tried, or are you speaking about something that you have not actually tried yet?
I don't know what your particular issue is, but many people have seen improvements in back issues through strength training. Get medical guidance first, of course, but I think it's too early in your resistance training to rule out any improvement at all.0 -

Which is foolish, quite honestly. This site is full of knowledgeable lifters, and many members could have been a great resource for you at one point.

Everyone stand down.
No advice required.
I repeat. Stand down.
She was just telling us about the stuff she has at her house.
I'm not sure if she wants to hear about the stuff we have at our houses, but just in case.
I'm at work. I have a computer. A pen. Some paper work. A ruler. Some cutting knives and a cutting board.0 -

Actually the thread is FItness & exercise. Where does it say advice? I did not once ask for advice at all.OP - if you really want to strength train I recommend joining a gym so that you can lift heavy using compound movements, or getting the equipment to do this at home = barbell, bench, power rack, dumbbells…
Sorry I guess that part about not a heap of money, also no room at home to have equipment was totally gone? Nope I still see it on the opening post.
I didn't ask for anything. I was more proud of the fact that with the little things I do have I took the initiative (with my Dr's guidance) to do this.
Sorry that I also dont have the money for back specialists or physios. I guess that's what happens when the people who caused your injury think you are all cured cause you can walk & lost weight so they stop paying for all medical.
Oh wait...was that me explaining myself.
Nah next time I'll just hope that nobody else is just as proud about themselves as I WAS. Perhaps not now, I feel like more of a failure thanks to some in here. Oh well. You can all move on to the next target. I'm no longer sorry for anything.:mad:0 -

Well I for one am glad that I read this post and considered the equipment available and tried to give helpful advice on page 1. Can't get that time back. :grumble:0

What was the reason for the blasting? I never asked for anything & yet people get all upset when I tell them that? Yeah ok, so that gave the right to what now?
I DID NOT ASK FOR HELP, ADVICE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT AT ALL. I WAS PROUD OF ME FOR A SPLIT SECOND..... wont happen again.0 -

OK then.
As I mentioned in my first post. You should 'probably' avoid some dynamic kettlebell swings, depending on where/why your back is injured.
I know you don't want my advice. That's just my opinion.
Carry on.0 -

"Like I said...I'm sorry I ever doubted it..... but why didnt someone warn me that my back would hurt more now than it did before? Like really my back is so bad now that I almost wish I'd had the epidural into it"
Hmm interesting dichotomy. Might be some others who have experience of strength training with back problems but never mind you got this your way0 -
Your back should not hurt after strength training...maybe check out some form videos for the exercises you're doing.
Back injury before even starting anything. Never going to get better even with strength training.
Possibly. Some back injuries can be helped (possibly, maybe...) by strength training. It dpends on so many factors - type, training, etc. But certainly take care of yours, go slowly and consider reading up on PT methods at the library - free stuff!
My own story is that I had significant shoulder issues for years and was this "" close to surgery. I am totally pain free now, still slight ROM decrease in extreme extensions (and a little click) but no one can tell but me. All thanks to weight training.
So it might help. Take it slow at first and build up.
And another vote for Your Body is Your Own Gym. Strong program on the application and the book.
And planks, lots of those, straight and side. Strengthen core and back.
Good luck.0
