......So I'll end my days hungry, rather than eating right before bed.

    Any suggestions?

eat right before you go to bed

that is not a valid suggestion on this thread....

    valid suggestions are a luxury

    apparently so...

if it was me i would prepare something ready to eat when i got home... but thats probably not a valid suggestion either...

Since you work in a restaurant I assume you take smoke breaks. Go ahead and quit smoking and eat something on what would have been your cigarette breaks. BONUS: you'll be saving money by not buying cigs.

That is one of the most absurd assumptions I've ever heard. I think I tried cigarettes a few times when I was 16 and haven't touched them since. No smoke breaks. No breaks at all.

BONUS: I'm not a chimney. My lungs are happy. I have saved lots of money.

Ps, try to not assume things about people. You just make yourself look bad.

Why are you hating on me? I was just trying to offer a suggestion.

So, based on my experience in the restaurant industry and the number of restaurant employees at most restaurants I have either been or seen taking smoke breaks I bet there is a few spare minutes you could cram something down your throat in the course of your 7 hours at the job. Either that or grab something on your way out the door.

Bottom line: I don't think you're applying yourself

I just was irritated me to see someone assume something like that and then offer a suggestion on how I need to fix myself.

What I'm saying is I eat right before my shifts, don't get hungry again until 5:30-6, when we get rushed for the next 3-4.5 hours. I don't stop moving during that time, because my tables are constantly in need. I can probably try to sip on something while entering orders or fixing salads, but not much.

My protein shake is simple. I use vanilla protein powder (my roommate also has cookie dough protein powder.. YUM) 1 scoop + Silk light almond milk... It is a little sweet but you can buy the unsweetened plain almond milk to make it less so I imagine. It's fast, delicious and I don't have to think twice about making it.

P.S. It WON'T make you bulky!

Thank you!! I'm not a big fan of vanilla, and I've never tried almond milk. I LOVE milk though... Is that an option? Is there a chocolate one? Or something that tastes like berries? I could handle those.

Eat something at 5:15. Then eat something else at the end of your shift.

The Federal rule, which applies in all States, requires two fifteen minute breaks, one in the first four hours of work and one in the second 4, 5 hours of work, plus a 30 minute lunch break in the mid part of the day.

pretty sure you should be entitled to breaks x

 LAWS! Where do you think we are, the US?!

Sorry for laughing, but I worked in the medical field and my boyfriend works as a bar tender and apparently these two fields have absolutely no regard for federal or state law. I was literally laid off for telling the manager about the law and that I had to take my breaks. That's the reality... either I continued to gain weight because I'd binge when I was starving after having no food for 5-8 hours, or I get to be unemployed. I have a feeling the OP is in the same position, as restaurant industry bosses are not usually very forgiving.

Spoken like a true HR person...although I know many nurses and waitresses that don't really get those breaks...(we have to wait 10 hours to go to the bathroom sometimes-hence I have a gallon bladder)

That is the labor law and some of the younger folks are afraid to mention that to their employers. I am GLAD you spoke up and let them know.

Baggies of pistachios in your pocket. Take a lunch cooler and stash it somewhere.. You can stuff a some turkey and string cheese in your mouth pretty quickly. 4 oz cups of yogurt are quick, sandwiches...

I'm just saying, I drive 200 miles a day and dont eat fast food. i take what I am going to eat and drink with me in a bag with a gel ice pack. Once upon a time I was in the restaurant business and ate at the restaurant.. that gets old fast..

If you buy a decent protein with a mix of sources, you can have a combination of digestion and absorption rates and not need to mix it with anything other than water (unless you nedd/want the extra carbs/calories from milk - and you can try almosnd milk, coconut milk, cow's milks, etc.)
