Gaining on less than calorie goal?

My MyFitnessPal is set to maintaining weight, which for me is around 1800 calories. I am recovering from a calorie restriction mindset, but have been eating at least 1200 cals per day for the past month which doesn't sound like much, but is a big deal for someone who used to eat under 900. Anyways, I have gained three pounds from eating 1200 plus calories a day, although I'm technically supposed to be loosing weight (not that I particularly want to). Why is this? Could it be due to a slowed metabolism?

It is water and glycogen weight. When all is said and done you will gain prob 5-8 lbs of water and glycogen. This is not fat!
Depending on how long you ate at 900 you may have slowed your metabolism a bit, but no where near as slow as you are thinking. Increase your food by 100 cals every 2-3 days till you reach 1800. Stay here for 4 weeks to let your body stabilize, and hen adjust up or down at that time if you need to.0
