I was never a big banana person, but now I always have some around and eat one every day or so. Not only are they healthy, but they're cheap! 57 cents a pound where I am.0

25 carbs for the entire day?!?!? The hell.
I eat ~8 bananas a day. Used to hate them. Now I enjoy them. High on sugar, but for those of us at a proper weight and no diabetes, they're a super-inexpensive "meal" and more filling than a kiwi. For me, they do cause a bit of gas. (Doesn't smell of bananas coming out.) Gross. I know.0 -
I love my bananas i always have them in the house if I have done a big workout I always have one or two of them and I make a banana oatmeal for breakfast or I put them with yoghurt :happy:0

There seems to be a lot of controversy over bananas and losing weight. I hear some people say you shouldn't eat them if you are trying to cut down on belly fat...
Where on earth did you hear that? Bananas are awesome food - log them like anything else, and eat them to your heart's content, in the context of IIFYM.0 -
I like bananas but I don't LOVE bananas. I eat them fairly often but usually split one with my husband. Just this morning we were gearing up for time on the bike trails and for breakfast we had French toast with 1/2 banana and some cookie butter and honeydew-and-ice to drink. It was delish.0

Its all about the calories.
If youre trying to lose weight, as long as you stay within your calorie goal, you could literally eat nothing but bananas.
If youre trying to do a specific diet, like keto, or are trying to avoid carbs for other reasons, bananas are probably not a good bet because of the high fructose content.
That aside, I like to eat bananas daily. The potassium keeps me from getting muscle cramps and I feel happy eating them.0 -
I can't get over the texture. Eww.
No bananas for me.0 -

Bananas YEA I eat at least one a day. Quick nutritious snack and I'm losing. I really like them right before a workout0

I always have a banana 1/2 hour before a workout, it definately helps stop stomach cramps and hunger. I have been loosing weight slowly and steadily and bananas are very much part of this healthy eating. I have definately still a lot of belly fat to loose however but I think thats just a mummy thing nothing to do with bananas?0

Banana and peanut butter on wholemeal bread... awwwww yeeaahhhhhhhhh!!!0

It amazes me that people try and pass off bananas as being unhealthy. My guess is it's probably because they are one of the higher calorie fruits (a medium one will set you back about 100 cals), a probably the 25 or so grams of carbs, due to the common diet trend of 'carbs are the enemy'. But no one food gives you belly fat. Too much of any food causes fat, in general.0

Yea!
I don't eat every day. And, I do not eat more than 1-2 per day when I do have them on hand. But I do like them and I feel that they are part of a healthy diet.0 -
I love bananas and try to fit them into my diet on a daily basis. I find that they really aid in hunger pains
**just as a funny: there is a picture of a banana next to the response box right now***0 -

Bananas are great! Their use is almost unlimited and can supress sugar binges. They have some protein and lots of fiber. I limit them to one a day.

I think there is some confusion in this thread. The "controversy" was never over the healthiness of bananas (they are great!) Its over eye contact during consumption of the fruit.0
-
Typically they're not my favorite use of 100 calories.. so I have them occasionally but it's definitely not a weekly thing.0
