I see lots of pics of women doing it. They even have it in their avatars. But, I can't imagine doing that. My rib cage would split open, my spine would snap, and my quads would pop.

Look up Rodney Yee, Jason Crandall, or Dice Ida-Klein...

(The answer is yes, btw, with practice. For the love of all that's bendy, don't try it first day out, you'd probably break something, lol.)

I can do stuff like that but stretch every. single. day, and have been for the past 8 years or so. I stretch right after every workout, when my muscles are still warm.

I used to live with a male bodybuilder who could do the splits, and other bendy stuff. And he had tons of muscle. But he also stretched every. single. day.

You just started stretching and doing yoga stuff. You just have to work up to it, like lifting. You'll get there! It's good that you started, because in my opinion, being flexible and loose is really important, especially for injury prevention.

I don't mean pro yogis. I mean, guys here. Guys that lift.

Guys that lift can't even touch their hands behind their backs!

i've on occasion seen guys able to get up into wheel. however they do seem to be few and far between. it took me a while until i was able to push up into it.

my favorite is going from camel back into wheel, and then back up into camel. that i can't do cold though. definitely takes some warm up to conquer that.

I don't think I'm bendy. My dream is to one day touch my hands to the floor while bending at the waist. I see people in yoga do it all the time and it's amazing how people can bend so much. But, it's mostly women. I haven't seen a man yet in person, that can twist and bend like women can.

    Why is that?

Practice. Lots of practice. Even women don't get bendy like that without working at it, and a lot of guys simply don't work at it, because flexibility is classed as "feminine".

If you want to see big dudes that lift heavy weights and are also ridiculously bendy, look at ice hockey goalies.

    Yep, hockey goalies ...

If you want to do wheel, practice, yo.

My bf who lifts every single day can do it. He would kill me if I took a picture. It doesn't look as curved as others but he can do it!

anybody with arms and legs can do it. presence or absence of either p or v is not required. :indifferent:

I'm a girl, and I can't do it, I'm not at all bendy. It's serious work just to touch my toes with bending my knees.

Doing it over a Swiss ball is a good way to start. Supports your back and minimises the chances of dropping on your head

sorry i wasn't as clear as i perhaps should have been:
anybody with arms and legs can do it if he starts where he is at, pratices daily and with great discipline, and keeps it up. for years.

I don't believe that to be true. I don't think I will ever be able to. But, I am going to try.

with daily effort, you'll be amazed how quicky you notice change. going to be alive for another year? that's enough time to get amazed, at least.

I don't believe that to be true. I don't think I will ever be able to. But, I am going to try. Touching the ground without bending my knees is first though. I can touch my knees, so I'm off to a good start.

I used to be arguably the least flexible person I know. It just takes time, effort, and a proper workout.

    The answer is probably no.

This is how we do yoga!

i can do it, not as pretty as the girl in the OP but i'm basically achieving the position.

its in p90x, the guy in it is fairly big, very rippped and he does it just fine.

have no idea why you'd think lifting would preclude someone from doing this. poor flexibilty precludes someone from doing this lol.

muscle bound is an antiquated concept.

That's one of the easiest things you can do. At least in my experience
