Tired of being obese, depressed, need some buddies!!

I am 36, I have struggled with my weight for years. I truly believe it is one of the main reasons I have been depressed for so long. Wanting a permanent change for my physical and mental health, want to be a better wife and mother to 6 kids!!

  • I am new to MFP, actually today is my first day. I have tried everything else and nothing has worked. I know I need a lifestyle change. I am 43, an empty nester, school bus driver and lead singer in a rock band. I want to have an active life now that my children are raised and gone. I want to look and feel good inside and out. :happy:

    I've been on here about 2 weeks. I love it so far! New friends are always welcome and I'm happy to share my ideas! I have 140lbs to lose! I'm vegetarian, so my meals are meat free, but I try to post them when I can.

    Just getting started today…so let’s keep each other motivated. I have four children and meal selection can be a challenge for me most days. My weight gain has increased a lot in the last 7 years and I'm trying to gain control of it and develop a healthy lifestyle that will help me maintain those results (I have 72lbs to lose).

    You can feel great!

    Look up 'runners high' :)

    Set some achievable goals - don't be too harsh on yourself, accept the ups and downs. Even if they're small things, feel proud for taking positive steps :)

    At some points you will pleasantly surprise yourself.

    Hello. I am older than you, 48, but have young kids and feel the same. I am tired of being tired all the time, and want to be a better wife, mother, and overall person.

    I have to lose another 55+ pounds. The slider on my message signature says less, but I set that up to break it down into smaller, easily attainable goals.

    Hi there! I too have struggled with my weight for years. Just start slow, even just doing 5 minutes of walking around is better than nothing. It will take time to build up to going longer. I am always looking for buddies for support & to support! feel free to add me :)

  • Exercise is the best anti-depressant....and it's FREE! Take the kids to the park, walk around the track for 30 minutes and you will burn about 130 calories. This is a lifestyle change so it wont happen over night, but taking one step at a time will do wonders for your attitude and depression. You can do this! Feel free to add me!

    I have been there too!! I felt stuck in a rut and hopeless. Some days I felt like I could never win. I would be depressed about myself then just eat more. I had lost 60 pounds and recently gained back about 15 so I am on my journey again. Just think to yourself how far you would have came if you would have stuck to the first diet you ever started. Use that as your motivation :) also think SUMMER!! I know I'm sick of feeling bad about myself in even a tshirt and jeans. Make a plan, stick to your plan and always remember why you started in the first place. Make a motivation wall or jar. You can take two jars labled "pounds to lose" and "pounds lost" and put the amount of weight you want to lose in marbles in the pounds to lose jar and every time you lose a pound put one marble in the "pounds lost" jar.. this is a great motivation tool.
