October Weight Loss Group

It's October everyone, and time for a new month with new goals! Did you meet your goal last month? Do you need to push a little harder? Watch your eating a little bit more closely? Keep your motivation up? It's another fresh start, and another chance to make this the month YOU meet your goals! It's all up to you, but we're here to support each other!

This month we're going to change things up a bit. We're going to set a monthly goal, but also have a weekly challenge to help us stay focused and on track. It'll break things up a bit, and help us to not feel overwhelmed by one big goal for the month!

Please feel free to join the group by simply adding your name to the bottom of the list and posting your monthly goal for weight loss. Then check back whatever day you weigh in, and update the thread. Feel free to post daily, weekly or whichever, but please come back and stick with it! We are all in this together!

    This week's challenge is going to be a DIET challenge!

    We've all got one (or many, LOL) things that are like kryptonite. Something that makes us weak in the knees when we think about eating it. Something guaranteed to derail all of our efforts for the day. It's up to you to decide what that food is, and how strict you want to be. Whether it's to limit it, or give it up totally for 7 days. Give us a little background about why you're giving it up for the week.

    Mine is going to be SUGAR. Not one particular treat, but sugar altogether. I have been flirting with my goal line for three months now. And every time I get sooooo close, I cave into my awful sugar cravings and have a setback. Not just a bad day, but I seem to fall into a pattern where I pig out on sweets for an entire week! I'm allowing it to control me hitting my goal! So I am BANISHING it for a week! No ice cream, cakes, pies, or cookies. No Sonic Java Chillers. No more slices of my homemade pumpkin pie and cool whip that is sitting in my fridge (not so coincidentally that I had a little pie binge planned for after weigh in this week! Bad me!!) No eating one or two of the baby's cookies. None. Bye Sugar! See you in a week!

    Hummmmm I don't have no food that I just have to have it's just serving sizes so my goal is to measure with my WW spoons all week and I am doing a Michi ladder challenge starting on Oct 3rd so my choices will be restricted anyway so I will be good to go!!

    I have not reached a goal since we started but this month I plan on hitting it for the first time!!

    my challenge will be no beer...which i usually have 1 or 2 a nite...and its so bad for me...so no beer til next friday!

    Janna, that's a great goal! Beer cals are definitely dead weight!

    Tiara- potatoes are sneaky! That'll be a hard one! Good luck!

    Cnbethea- where are you doing the Michi's ladder challenge? I'd love to do that one too. I tried last month to do a 21 day Michi's challenge, but failed miserably a week in. I'd love to prove to myself that I CAN do it!

    Roonmom- running 30 mins is a great goal! Do you run now?

    OK - I think I'm ready to jump into the challenge mode now. I just joined the site about a month ago and am seriously hooked. It's amazing how dedicated you can become to something when you start seeing results. :) My goal this month is to shed 6 pounds and increase my speed on the treadmill so I can burn more calories in 30 minutes.

    Hello all,

    Congrats to all from last month!! I love this group and it helps me stay focus on the pounds.

    Even though I did not reach goal, I am happy to report I lost one more pound for a total weight loss of 3 pounds for September. I will take it. I did not gain. I am going to reach my goal one of these months and I have a feeling it is going to be October. I am sticking with 7 pound goal.

    Thanks for the diet challenge Tattodfreek!!! I already had set a diet challeng for myself for the month. I am not going to eat anything fried this month. No fried foods for Ms. Molly. I will keep you all posted on how it is going for me. This will help me reach my 7 pound weight goal.

    Haha, so i'm the only guy here it seems, but that's ok. One of my goals is to run a sprint triathlon in the spring, so i've been lurking around www.beginnertriathlete.com for a while, and i joined a weekly weigh in group there, but they're not as friendly over there, so here I am! So my monthly goal is kind of ambitious, but i have the whole month of october off, so i can train really train hard. My last weigh-in (9/29) was 216.8 and I would like to aim for 200 by the end of Oct. SO... i guess my goal for the month would be 16.8 lbs... haha, as long as i'm well on my way I wont be disappointed, but with my recent progress, I feel I have a chance. I'm up to 4 miles a day running, and as soon as i can bump that up i will. Also, I'm planning on fitting in more long bike rides to supplement my running. AMBITIOUS AND MOTIVATED!!!
    Do you all have a weekly weigh-in or is it just kind of whenever you do it?
