Mom should be reported to Child Protective Services.
This is just sooooooo wrong!!
(or maybe "juicing" instead of "vaccine!")0 -
Alright, I'll say it. This IS child abuse. It may not rise to the level of a legal infringement, but it is abuse, even if it is abuse that stems from ignorance and not cruelty. Someone depriving their kid of food and making sure that they have "cleanse" induced diarrhea for two weeks....
Agreed.0 -
couldnt open it but are we talking like juice cleanses?
Parents letting their children do juice cleanses with them.0 -
This particular kid seems to be eating fine and going after the juice between meals because she likes it.
And it would probably be healthier if her mother bought the ingredients from an organic farmer's market and made the juice herself. Couldn't possibly cost more than this stuff does, although it's still not cheap.
Also how in any way is this a cleanse? It's just a way to eat your veggies in less bulky form. The word cleanse is misleading, the fact that a product called Children's Cleanse exists makes me want to punch someone from marketing in the nose.
As for teens trying this for weight loss, I remember buying Dexatrim at age 16. No one ever carded me. It's probably healthier to guzzle some green slime every day than how I lost weight.0 -
Thanks!!

If a parent is "cleansing" a 2 year old then Children's Services needs to be called.0

Oh please, this might not be great parenting but it's not even remotely close to child abuse. This isn't going to seriously harm the kids whatsoever. It's mainly just an idiotic waste of money.
As long as the kids are growing fine and hitting their milestones then it's not a serious issue.
Yeah, it's pretty far from "abuse," but it's

This seems a bit over the top. While cleanses for children is disturbing, it's really no more disturbing to me than seeing an overweight child snacking on chips and candy.0 -

True. And I find it disturbing that small children are given mobile phones.
And after a conversation this weekend with my teen daughter, my new thing I find disturbing is when Gen-X parents don't introduce their kids to 80s pop culture. (There are levels of "disturbing.") :laugh:0 -
OMG INTERNET SENSATIONALISM!
It's not child abuse to have a kid do a 3 day juice cleanse with you. Is it... unnecessary? Maybe... But a 3 day "cleanse" won't do irreparable damage.
I will agree though that it may create a poor relationship with food as a whole if it's a consistent thing in the wrong type of environment. But all this bleeding heart child abuse crap is hilarious.
That said, this is New York. People are rich and vain, and will spend $600 for a 3 day cleanse. Just reality.0 -

i haven't seen fox news channel in 13 years. i cut the cable cord back in 2000. from what i know of o'reilly, he is a registered democrat and his politics are more populist than anything else and his show is strictly an opinion show. i never much cared for him. however, he's a far cry from being a news source. i'm not surprised you don't understand the distinction.0 -

My thoughts exactly! Journalism is pretty much dead. it's all about sensationalism, or "What are the bloggers talking about because we have no clue how to research and write stories!"
The only real news on TV is the local weather report, and it's an educated guess, at best.0 -

The satire of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are much closer to the truth than any TV "news" network. That's why their satire is so popular. The best political satire exposes the truth. And honestly, there is more truth in stand-up comedy these days than in "news" broadcasts on TV.
Hell, YouTube is a better source than a TV broadcast.:laugh:0 -

I actually watched it the other night because that's where John Stossell went when he left ABC. But again, it's commentary and interviews, not news. I also watch Rachel Maddow from time to time. Those two are the only "common taters" that don't utterly piss me off.0 -

It sounds like you missed the point. It's not that Comedy Central provides us with journalistic integrity but that journalism disappeared from TV a long time ago. It's not to be found in newspapers anymore either, which is why the dead tree newsies can't get subscriptions to their websites even. TV and print are both dead.0
