How do you count a chicken wing?

I've been trying to figure out the right way of logging a simple chicken wing. Forget the size disparity for now.
Is 1 chicken wing = to the three sections of a single appendage? (or just the two meaty sections and the wing tip is insignificant?)
Or is 1 chicken wing = 1 section of a single chicken appendage?
In buffalo or bbq wings, I think you'd count each sections of the appendage as one wing.
But with Fried Chicken, you count the whole three section appendage as one wing.
Thanks.

Weigh the wing before eating it, then add the sauce, weigh it again and finally weigh it after eating it. Then you will need to apply a complex mathematical equation to figure out how much meat and sauce is left on the bones which should give you an accurate calorie count!

What does eating have to do with counting? Why are you derailing this thread?

Buy boneless wings, weigh boneless wings, eat boneless wings, repeat as needed.0

Actually, on the bone has a different flavor from boneless.0 -
I counted the top one as two when I had them. don't know if that's right, but it's safe.0

Who eats the tip of a chicken wing? Ain't nothin there.

Chicken wings are the worst food to try to log. Even the boneless "wings" are challenging.
Best of luck.0 -

Dammit. You beat me to it!1 -

Oh I can't stand them, but if you're going to worry about the exact amount of calories in wings, then your best bet is the boneless variety.0 -

my logic may be faulty, but i would count either of those as one wing. I usually round to 80-100 cals....80 with just sauce, 100 with sauce and delicious ranch dressing..0 -

I've been logging both as 1. But they are some high calorie bits of chicken so I've kind of been avoiding them.0 -
Or don't eat them.....lol,
