I listen to all kinds of music but classic rock is still my go to.

Some of the bands I've seen live at least the ones I can remember seeing live :)

    Paul Mcartney
    Doobie Brothers
    Chicago
    The Police
    Journey
    Foreigner
    Night Ranger
    Humble Pie
    Van Halen
    Quiet Riot
    REO Speedwagon
    Bad Company
    Lynyrd Skynyrd
    Pat Benatar
    Queen
    Crosby Stills Nash
    Boz Skaggs
    Michael McDonald
    Bryan Adams
    Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush
    Steely Dan
    Peter Frampton
    Eddie Money
    Jefferson Starship
    Kansas

That's an awesome list. I was born in the wrong decade.

Hey most of those bands I listed are still out there on tour. Some are getting a little old and have have had some changes in members but they are still out there. Checkout ticketmaster, stub hub etc :)

How are you defining Classic Rock? Because Classic Rock now includes '80s Hair Metal and Grunge bands ...

If we get to define it anyway we want then I will go ahead and declare Everclear my favorite classic rock band of all time lol.

I'm not defining it any way I want. I'm 45. I started High School in 1982 - At the time, The Beatles were classic rock. At the time, They had been done for 10 years. Led Zeppelin Was classic rock - they had been gone for 2 years ...

My Son is 17. When he started high school in 2010, Nirvana had been done for 16 years ....

Doo-Wop Music had been dead and gone for 20 years when I started High shcool, and it was what the "Oldies" stations played. When my son started high school, Hair Metal had been dead and gone for 20 years ...

In my area, the classic Rock Stations have all added 80's and Grunge Pioneers to their playlists.

    Time marches on, man ....

Oh I agree....except I don't think a band has to be "done" to be classic. Bruce Springsteen is classic and he is still going.

Agreed .. i was just establishing a timeline with some numbers I knew off the top of my head.

I am a huge fan of Classic Rock/Oldies. Admittedly, I don't listen to much post '79. Some of my favorites include:

    The Beatles
    Paul McCartney
    The Who
    Pink Floyd
    Jimi Hendrix
    Led Zeppelin
    The Guess Who
    Three Dog Night
    James Taylor
    Carol King
    Janis Joplin
    The Zombies
    The Animals
    Cream
    Clapton
    The Stones
    Little Richard
    James Brown
    The Doobie Bros.
    Wings
    The Eagles
    The Turtles
    Boz Scaggs
    Chicago
    CSNY
    Simon & Garfunkle
    The Yardbirds
    Derek & the Dominos

    In concert, I've seen:

    McCartney
    The Eagles
    Boz Scaggs
    James Taylor
    Chicago
This list is waaaay too short! Of course, I'm only 30. So my chance to see many of these artists live came and went long before I was born :(

It's encouraging to see that there are still people with decent musical taste in this world :)

    Beatles
    Led Zeppelin
    Doors
    Pink Floyd
    Temptations
    Supremes

And I like a lot of one hit wonders.

I grew up listening to the Oldies and Classic Rock stations. I could probably sing word for word about 90% of the songs my stations play. Maybe not so much the classic rock station since they play a bit more 80's nowadays.

    ETA: Alice Cooper :drinker:

Love Dire Straits!! Mark Knopfler is my friggen hero. He's the reason why I picked up the guitar.

And Dire Straits is considered Blues-Rockish so it should count ;)

Not making a list, but if it rocks, I don't care when it was first recorded! I like them all, from the roots of rock to the latest song just played on the radio! I'm a rock fan, through and through.

    ^^ Yep

Dire Straits is most definitely rock. The original MTV song, "Money for Nothing," immediately comes to mind.
