Hello friends,
I have been doing so good this week with my calories. So why does my scale say i'm up 1.5 lbs today?! I'm sure its water or maybe I wasn't holding my mouth just right It'll go away. Right?!?!?!?!
I leave on Sunday morning for vacation. Not sure if I'll be able to post or not while I'm gone but I will still be logging my food and walking!
How is everyone else doing today??? Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think i'm a little late joining this group, but i LOVE the unconditional support. since i don't always get that support - from either friends, family or co-workers... i hope it's not TOO late...
i am at my goal weight, and have been for several months now. i still log my food and exercise every day, check the posts to see what's new and if there are others out there with my same issues. with thanksgiving and christmas coming up, i'm really worried that i could get carried away and slip out of the healthy eating habit. when i first started my weight loss journey, i was able to just 'sample' things and that would satisfy me. it's not like that anymore. if there is a slice of cake cut for me, now it's the whole piece. how can i get back to where i was?!?!0 -
dmoses,
Not to late, never too late. We all have issues with holidays, It's a mind thing, as long as you don't deny and go back to just a taste. You will be fine. You might have to up your walking a bit to compensate. Take that walk after Thanksgviing dinner and Christmas no matter the weather. Not sure where you are, but the weather could be a factor.
Congrats on making to your goal. I have about 23lbs. to go till I get to my first goal. Then when I reach that I have a second one in mind. I am 56 and know I will never be what I was in High School, nor do I want to be, just want to be healthy and look and feel good for my age.
I have had two people tell me I don't look as old as my years. I took that as a compliment. Made me feel good. That always keeps me going.
Have faith you will get thru this holiday season just fine.

You are doing GREAT!!. Enjoy your vacation!!!!

If I ever needed unconditional support it is now! I have been grieving over the loss of my beloved dog of 17 years. He was our very best friend and even though we knew it was coming (large dog, 17....), we were devastated when it happened. I don't seem to care about anything else right now. Who cares what I eat? It just doesn't seem important, yet I know it is very important! So....if I am cranky, please forgive me. I do hope you all are doing well and are happy and healthy!0
-
I so know what you mean. 7 yrs ago we lost our Beagle of 11 yrs. He had a enlarged heart. I so grieved for him for a long time. He was my baby. and was really smart. He was a member of our family and his name was Hercules. I have a picture of him at my desk and can see him often.
Remember the good times
Take care!

Hello everyone! Its been a little while since I"ve posted. Workouts and diet are going great. Each week I just "tweak" the diet a little more. The scale moves slowly this way but I don't feel deprived or anxious or "guilty". All is well. Have a great rest of the week!0

May I join in with your group? Unconditional support sounds great!!!0

Hi mag, connie, ann, debi and everyone else! just getting back to trying to feel normal. i am still (and always will be ) grieving the loss of my beloved dog. my family is really a mess over this. i have gotten back to exercising and i am eating right, so i feel better. i would love this process to be easier, but i suppose no one has a magic wand. how is everyone doing? time for me to go teach my class. focus, focus, focus! wishing you all well!0

Profjan6 ... I'm so sorry about your dog. I had to put down my pet of 16 years this past year and it's heart breaking. Sending healing vibes your way my MFP friend.
So far so good with the eating today ... have a pot roast in the crock pot for supper ... and I'm giving a ghost tour tonight which is a nice walk. So that will be 2 good days in a row. I found that since I've fallen off the wagon it's the evenings that are tough for me. I'll start up my gym membership again in November and try to stay away from the front of the TV. Hope all is well with the rest of this group. Talk to you all soon.0 -

Well, I have managed to "behave" myself and eat properly this past week. It hasn't been easy. When I am sad, I like to eat. I guess most people are like that??? Not sure, but I always felt that pizza or some other goody would ease my pain. Wrong! I did the best I could this week, and it was fine. Have a lot of plans this weekend that of course, include eating. Going to a spanish restaurant Saturday night, so maybe I'll just have fish or steak or something without a lot of carbs. Enough about me.....how are all of you doing? It seems to be so quiet here lately. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.0
-
Hey there ... I know what you mean about eating when you're sad. Me ... anything other than calm and happy can set me off ... sad, angry, tired. Tired is the worst. Oh well, that's what happened to me last night. I was soooo sleeepy! I should have just gone to bed instead of staying up to watch the last of whatever it was I was watching and munching on the couch. Oh well ... otherwise I've been pretty great this week. First time in a long time I can actually see myself trying to get back on the health wagon so I'm not going to beat myself up over too many cheese and crackers last night :blushing: I'm giving a big supper tomorrow night for my daughter. She's visiting from out of town so we invited a bunch of her local friends to come over too. I think I'm making spaghetti for about 10 or 15 people??? It's all good. I'll be too focused on everyone else to pig out I'm looking forward to it. They're all really very nice young adults and lots of fun to be with. Maybe their youthfulness will rub off. So what's everyone else's plans for the weekend?

WOW, I am so glad this little thread that I started out of frustration here at MFP was carried on while I was off being very, very bad this past month. This thread was the only thing I was worried about while I was on diet hiatus (aka stuffing everything into my mouth that wasn't nailed down).
So I gotta admit, I'm now 3 lbs MORE than I was when I first came here and I am not feeling motivated at all. :ohwell: But I have to do something, this is the heaviest I've been in my whole entire life, even pregnant. Soooo, here I am. I'm going to start wiht the diary and hope the motivation finds me in a pound or two.
Hugs everyone.....

Glad you are here!! Taking a "detour" isn't that bad. 3 pounds, isn't that bad either! I bet you will slowly motivate yourself to get back on track. Was wondering where you were! Glad you are ok, and will be here again. Hey, you started this and I, for one, missed your input! Hope you are doing well.0

Hi everyone! I'm back
We had a great time, and although I didn't eat great, I continued to log every single thing and I walked a TON. So for the first time I can ever recall, I actually lost weight on vacation. I am now officially over the 100lb loss mark!!! Woo Hoooo!!!
Jan - I'm so so so sorry to hear about your doggie! I still miss my doggie Tigger every day and he passed away 23 years ago! It gets a little easier, but every so often something will hit me and it'll be just like right after it happened. My thoughts are with you.
Buggaboo - I'm glad to see you back too! I wondered where you had gone And Jan is right, 3 lbs isn't that bad!
Ann - how's your walking coming along???
I'm glad to see we have a few new people too, welcome everyone! Well, I hope everyone had a great week I'm glad to be back!!
Debi0 -

Debi - woweeee is all i can say! you really did something incredible! all your hard work paid off. the vacations sounds like it went well, and to lose weight during a vacation is wonderful. enjoy the accomplishment!
glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. weekends are usually the biggest challenges for me. all that good food and drink to tease me!!0 -
Man oh man, may daughter and all her friends just left. The big spaghetti dinner was a complete success. They brought me a lovely huge bouquet of flowers and oddles of bottles of red wine. I drank way too much red wine. Dangit, I just have no control. I'm a little wastey right now but I wanted to stop in and wish you all an awesome weekend. Take care and talk to you soon :drinker: :flowerforyou: :blushing:0
-
Hi all. Made it through the weekend. I have to stop letting myself get so tired. Sat on the couch watching "Scream" and ate a whole bowl of buttered popcorn. Dangit again!!! Tomorrow's a new beginning. I'm off to bed now. Sweet dreams all.0

The weekends are so hard!!! We try to enjoy our time with family and friends, but it all revolves around food! It is really difficult to chew on a salad while everyone else is indulging in the good stuff. How does everyone do it? I can resist the desserts, but its the food that is calling me. Well, today is a new day and hopefully we all won't be so tempted.0

Hi everyone, well I weighed in this morning ... imagine that ... my weight stayed didn't budge an ounce this week. I'm amazed after the weekend that I didn't gain any. I think I'm going to take a 7 lb. challenge that I read in a previous post some place. Even though I'm Canadian and our Thanksgiving is done with ... I'm aiming to lose the 7 lbs. in the 5 weeks up 'til the USA Thanksgiving. Woo Hoo!! Let's Do It!!!

Weekends are tough Jan, I agree! Too easy to sit around and not think about what is going into your mouth.

I'm trying to get moving again, yesterday was the first day and I blew it at dinner. I always seem to lose it at dinner.........I feel like it doesn't count if I'm just cleaning off the kids plates or sneaking a bite of leftovers.
I told DH, tonight I eat and I leave the kitchen for at least an hour. Period. We'll see how that works.
Hugs and good day to everyone!
