Agree with Charlotte, if you have healthy kidneys then there is no issue eating more protein than you need.
It will just end up being converted into amino acid and used for various things in the body such as glycogen for immediate fuel or stored in the liver and muscles or converted to body fat (that's a simple answer - however the body does more with the amino acids than just that).0 -

I built 0 muscle while I was cutting. Started to build when I took on a calorie surplus
It doesn't matter what you are eating. If you eat less than your body is burning off, then you do not build muscle. Muscle building is not as important as your organs functioning.
