any person with any level of intelligence knows that star trek is superior in ever way

Star Wars, Star Trek, Star Gate, Firefly, you'll never make me choose, but we're 8 pages in and I have to point out the GLARING typographic error in the very first post which is ironically attempting to mock the intelligence of those who disagree with the OP's assertion.

Sorry, had to get that out of my system, carry on.

I love the 60s era star trek... but im gonna go with star wars even though im a bit bored with everything george lucas now.

for one reason.... the future as envisioned by star trek revolves around a military organization and a bunch of battleships trying to maintain detente with a bunch of other military entities.

star wars is like the old west in space where a bunch of ww2 style resistance fighters are trying to overthrow their fascist overlords.

if those are the futures that are out there then the second one is more like a future that I could deal with. Though perhaps the darker sides of both are never really explored.

And another thread just reminded me: James Earl Jones.

    Beat that, Trekkies.

The Rock.... he was on Star Trek: Voyager.

Iggy Pop... he was on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

Sorry, those two together don't beat James Earl Jones...STAR WARS!!!

Star Trek was about ideas, Star Wars was a retelling of traditional mythology. Personally, I prefer ideas.

Picard and Riker would like to challenge your assumptions about the Red Shirts.

The answer is right there in the name. A trek is always better than a war.

(Actually, I've only seen the first Star Wars movie vs both Star Trek reboot movies plus the majority of the original series, so I'm not in a position to compare the two. I just really like Star Trek, to the point that one of my planned rewards for reaching my goal weight is to buy Star Trek TOS-themed underwear: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/18c7/)

    star trek is unwatchable.
star wars is ok...not all of em.. but even the worst star wars is better than the best star trek. even that jar jar binks crap is better.
