although, whatever you're eating, clean, raw, cooked ..... if you eat too much of it you won't lose weight

    We have already covered this.

I started off with walking and eating better. When the weight started coming off, and the food started energizing me, i WANTED to add in other exercises. Start off at your level, don't push it too hard at first. As the saying goes, "It's a marathon, not a sprint". Pace yourself, set attainable goals, and be easy on yourself mentally, and you'll do just fine.

And now we've learned the importance of proper punctuation.

I would of thought it was grammar rather than punctuation...

    Would...have...

Thanks. I can only do light exercise right now. I've done something to my ankles. I want to do running later on to do a Colour Run and eventually get back into T25 but I know to ease myself back into exercise and not just go full ball like last time. :)

A lot of people suggest strength training but even most of those don't say it is all you need.
All you need is a calorie deficit to lose weight. Exercise (either weights or cardio) has other benefits and can help create a deficit, but you can create one even without it.

If eating "cleaner" leads to you consuming less calories than your body needs then you will lose weight. Walking is a fine exercise

I understand all that but I'm not looking at calorie counting or deficits anymore. I'm looking towards eating raw foods and meat and doing walking and seeing how I go with that.

you are not going to cook any meat any more????? You will probably lose a lot of weight from food poisoning...

IMO this sounds like torture…why not eat the foods you like, maintain a calorie deficit, and walk/move more?

Do you really think eating raw meat and foods is a long term solution?

I'm not stupid. Of course I'm going to cook my meat. You just read raw foods and meat as a whole rather than two separate things and yes, I do see eating raw food and meat as a long term thing. It will be hard to transfer into that state of mind and lifestyle but I'm giving it a shot. I know some people may not agree to it but each to their own.

OP, walking is great exercise. As for the raw foods/living foods diet, I'm not for or against. I've known many people who've been on this diet - one of them for as long as four months. I do think there are some things you need to know about it, this is an informative article on what to expect from the perspective of those favorable to the diet: http://www.beyondveg.com/billings-t/troublesh/troubleshooting-1a.shtml

Just curious, OP. You seem like you've already made up your mind to do this, why are you posting this question to the MFP community?

Thanks. I'm in the process of beginning and it may take me a while to master but I'm not starting this just thinking about weight loss only. This question wasn't based on food... originally I was going to post purely about walking but food comes into account at the end of the day. :)

Oh, I see. Fair question then. *Proof reading for grammar, punctuation and spelling. *

I drop alot of weight by doing things like Jillian Michaels and FitnessBlender... but when the spring came I felt miserable working out in my house while looking at the beutifull day outside lol
So I left the work out videos and start walking (no time for both), the first two weeks I lost 4 lbs, I got kind of scare (I'm to close to my goal, so losing that is too much), and this week I took it as a "time to think" week, but yeah... by eating at a deficit and walking you can lose

    BTW, I walk 60-120min 3-7 days a week

I do usually but I make mistakes and I also don't know everything there is about grammar nor spelling. :)

I understand all that but I'm not looking at calorie counting or deficits anymore. I'm looking towards eating raw foods and meat and doing walking and seeing how I go with that.

And as I said, if that diet change ends up with you consuming less calories than your body needs you will lose weight. If you eat too many calories "clean" food, you will not lose weight. It is not dependant on calorie counting. Calorie counting ensures that you are in a deficit, but there are other ways to achieve that. Many people see results on restrictive diets because they eliminate the type of food we tend to overeat, resulting in us having a deficit. We just didn't count the calories to get there. Unfortunately that doesn't work all the time, some people will replace the foods they over ate before with new foods that they are allowed ot eat.

I'm fully aware that eating too many clean foods can also make you gain weight and that eating less than 1200 calories is bad for your body but if I'm having regular size portions and healthy snacks in between I don't think I'll have to worry. I'm not dieting, I'm trying a new lifestyle. If my body gives me signs of needing to eat more or eat less than I'll know to do so. :)

Then I guess I don't know what the question is.

Agreed. Kind of not seeing what the point of this was since it ended up where it has.

Because the question wasn't purely focused on food. If you read the other comments I said that I originally was going to ask purely about walking but food is also apart of the equation so I added it in. I was curious to see how much people have lost from walking.

I did just that for a couple of months and I lost 6kg in 12 weeks. I do around 10000+ steps a day (I have got the fitbit one pedometer) by walking my dogs and I eat "as healthy as possible. Lately I have started with cardio and weights.
