I walked the dogs and cleaned house for 3 hours. I am tiered but want to work out. I am wondering what the opinions of others is. Do you rest or work out when tired? Or let yourself rest not to stress the body?

Work out! But be prepared that your body may not be up to your usual routine. Don't feel bad if you need to go a little slower than usual.0

I agree with the previous poster. Workout, but perhaps a little slower until you get warmed up. A crappy workout is better than no workout. It's different if you are getting sick or your body really needs a rest from other training.0

Workout! For me a good workout will get me going for hours afterwards...Just warm up real good and think about all the great things you'll accomplish!0

Yes, I don't expect to set any PRs but I still get it done.0

Good warm up + good playlist = no excuses (for me, anyway )
I'm tired a lot, but I never regret working out.0 -
It depends how tired. If i got an hour or two of sleep the night before and am dragging all day, I probably would just go home. If I'm just sleepy at work or feeling run down, I'll go to the gym.0
-
Yep, I sure do get out there and get it done. Pretty much a sure thing I won't be tired when I'm done.0
-
Yes...unfortunately but I'm always glad I did after grinding through, more calories burned+quicker results
After a long hard cold 11.5 hour day I hit it for an hour. Sucked but got it done and feel better.0 -
If I didn't work out when I was tired, I would never work out.0

I don't miss training days, unless an injury prevents them.
In those cases, I work around the injury if possible.0 -
A lot of times I'll workout right when I get home from work before that melting into the couch feeling sets in.. And I'm a courier.0

I don't have tired.0

"wow, i really regret that workout" says no one ever
but seriously, try the workout for 10 minutes. If you're still exhausted, stop. Chances are, once you get into it you'll convince yourself to push through to finish.0 -
Most of the times my best workouts are the ones I don't feel like doing because I'm too tired.
Not only I surprise myself during the workout but then I feel so much better afterwards!
Just take it a bit easier and be ready to accept that your body is not at 100% and you'll be fine.0 -
I hate it while I am working out when I am tired, but.... I feel incredible after... So it is definitely worth pushing yourself!0

i can make so many excuses for not working out so just got myself into a routine just like going to work0 -
I try not to run when I am tired because I have a tendency to injure myself (sloppy form)
I still work out tho. Sometimes I do core when I am tired because I am more comfortable with core... then make other stuff up on days I feel better.0 -
I always do my workout. Even if I got my period I workout (in this case I try something less intense for my body )
Even If I'm not motivated, I put on my fitness outfit, then I feel pretty and motivated to rule the world lol.
When I start my workout, I end up saying myself "You're a warrior, you came to class" lol !
Good luck !0 -
The only time I don't workout when I'm tired is if I'm sick. For me, there's a difference between feeling tired (pretty much every weekday lol) and being physically exhausted. Listen to your body enough and you'll be able to tell the difference and know when it's ok to push and when it's best to rest. Usually when I'm tired and I really don't feel like going I have the best workouts.0

If I need to sleep then I will nap instead but if it's a choice of gym and sitting around it has to be gym.
I get terrible migranes if I dont sleep when I need to.
Learning the difference between the two levels of tired is essential0 -
Yes. Typically on Leg Day...
Here is a motivational quote for you to remember when you are tired...
"Leg Day doesn't care about that... Leg Day doesn't give a S*#)!!"

Alter as needed for other excercise splits that you may be doing... Hahaha!:laugh:0 -

I will work out BECAUSE I'm tired. Five minutes in, you wonder what you were being such a lil' bisch about.0

I was just going to say the same thing!0 -
I tend to not do much before working out but if I have to do stuff and end up tired I will do what I can and put maximum effort into it.0
-
It depends what kind of tired. It sounds like OP already has done quite a bit of cardio -- housecleaning 3 hours and walking the dogs. I had a day like that last week, and I didn't work out, but I wear a pedometer, and had put in 3 miles by the end of the day. However, if I'm tired from work (teaching, deskwork, meetings) or poor sleep, I will work out The working out especially helps with the poor sleep.0

Depends why I'm tired, and what my planned session is. Generally if I'm not comfortable with a planned session I'll do something else; resistance training rather than an interval run, or recovery pace rather than tempo running.
If it's down to being de-fuelled then I may skip it because that's counter-productive.0
