51 lbs down in 1 year , still a long way to go (with pics)

I put these in another thread, but I figured I'd put there here too.

The first picture is from late March/Early April last year when I was about 270lbs (my starting weight was 284) and the second picture is from last month at about 238. I'm 234 now. still have a long way to go, but it's a good start! :D

51 pounds is great! I want to do a slow loss too. Sure, I would love to wake up tomorrow and it was all gone, but that will not happen. And crash loss- I have done it a 100 times. It just is not sustainable. If I lose slow, I figure I can do it forever. Thanks for the post! 51 pounds is far from a START- it is a whole lotta' weight! keep on!

What an inspiration, I was at 300 lbs when I started MyFitnessPal, I've only lost 9 lbs so far, but your story gives me the hope that I can lose the weight too! :) Thanks for sharing your success story!

And a testimony to taking the broad (no pun intended) view. A pound or so a week seems like such a small step, but looking back over the year it adds up. And is so much better than doing nothing. So . . . great, GREAT progress and think what it will be NEXT April! :flowerforyou:

OT: That wedding arch is the LAST WORD!!! (Bad pun couldn't be helped!) I swear I'd set that arch up somewhere in my house. My doorways are arched...hmmmm....

Well, we have established you are willing to stick to your plan and work hard. GO YOU!!! You also have great taste in decor. You're bound to succeed at this! Good job!

Thank you everybody for your kind words! :D I thought about giving up so many times since 1 lb - 1.5lbs a week didn't seem like much at all, but looking back I'm so glad I didn't. Hopefully by this time next year I'll be able to say I've lost another 50 lbs :)

For everybody asking I helped my friend make the arch for her wedding, we found this metal frame that presses the books together so they stay up on amazon, i don't remember it being very expensive. :) and it looks awesome!

I also loved the book arch!

I know what you mean about the 1-1.5 pound a week routine feeling so slow and small - but they add up and a slow, measured loss is way more sustainable in the long run! That 1 pound that takes us from 200 to 199 will be HUGE won't it???? And that is "only" a pound!!!

You're doing just right. I've averaged about a pound a week too, I'm set for a higher deficit but high days and holidays have reduced my over-all rate - which is just fine with me because I don't want to miss out on the fun things in life or feel deprived by the process. I'm also getting into the groove of how I will need to eat to maintain which I wouldn't with a faster quick-fix loss. Keep up the great work!
