I'm not saying it isn't hard work, Of course Posing for an hour+ would be very taxing on your body.
I'm just saying He wouldn't lift for 5-8hrs a day, everyday.

  • How do I spend 2 hours at the gym working out? I set goals, I say, 2.5 hours or 1200 calories to burn. I have set routines 1-4. But, I don't have kids, work my tail off 3 days a week which I don't workout those days. If I had kids I would just get a babysitter for 3 hours if working out meant that much to me, which it does.

Working out 2 hrs + a day is inhumane.
Even pets don't need that much time/day to get trained.

    says who?
I love it. I enjoy it. I spend combined about 20 plus hours at the gym and studio - works out to just under 3 hours a day. Love it- wish I could be an athlete and dancer full time.

and I'm not a effing pet- I'm a person- who makes me own decisions.

    FTFY.

Apparently you don't dog sport either...

I enjoy 2+ hour long runs and bike rides. I am really missing them right now.
You don't. Doesn't make one right or wrong. If you don't want to work out 2 hours you don't have to.

I would assume they are early risers, or don't have the same responsibilities, or just have that desire to put in two hours and probably get 5-6 hours sleep .

Forcing someone to work out for two hours against their will is inhumane. Choosing to do it on your own is dedication.

You know what's inhumane.....commuting for two hours on the train or the highway. That's just crazy!

I have DVD's that I use at home. I get up early and do a 30 minute aerobic routine or an arms and abs routine and a 10 minute stretch. Then I walk to work which is about a mile away (I know - I'm lucky!). I use Map My Walk app on my phone to track my time and effort - usually 15-20 minutes. Then on my morning break at work, I go for a walk. On of my co-workers is a marathon runner with long legs so it's a workout to keep up with her. We usually do about a mile and a quater. About 25-30 minutes. Then I walk home - another 15-20 minutes. If I'm feeling very ambitious or have tight muscles I'll do a 30 minute stretch DVD. I usually get in 90 minutes for sure. I'm 58 and have gout. So I look at this as an investment in not being one of those old people who sit around complaining about their ailments. I'm losing weight slowly, but it IS coming off! :-)

I try to get in my two hours daily - One hour at the gym during lunch (I have a really great boss who doesn't mind me taking extra time at the gym a twice a week). The other days, I try to walk for an hour, or go back to the gym after work, after cooking dinner/cleaning, I will go for a run, cleaning counts as working out if you add some music to it and stop to do some squats, jumping jacks, or just dance while you sweep or mop (my husband can't understand why I enjoy cleaning so much!!). Five minutes here, ten minutes there, it adds up. And it adds variety to your routine. Do you have cable? Some cable providers offer exercise channels, or buy some dvd's that you can use at home. I hope this helps.

I LOVE the sound of your cleaning routines! I'm going to give this a go!

So I just tried to read through all the pages of this amusing thread, but I'm not sure I ever figured out why the OP decided they needed to workout for over two hours a day. I understand that training for marathons, triathalons, etc would require someone to put in several hours of training per day, but for the purposes of general strength training, can anyone provide evidence where 2 hrs of weight training per day is more beneficial than 1 hr (or less) of weight training per day? I've tracked my training for the last 2 years and I have made as good (or better) progress after I reduced my weight training sessions from 1.5 hrs to around 45 minutes while following the exact same training splits 4-5 times a week while maintaining simliar rest periods (1-2 minutes) and reps per set (6-8). The main thing I reduced was the number of exercises and sets. I found that I was able to make the same gains with 12-15 sets per workout that I was making with over 20 sets per workout. I guess it all depends on what your goal is. If your goal is to run a marathon, then you would need to train over 2 hours a day, but if your goal is to cut your BF (or even bulk), 2 hours per day isn't necessary. If you really like hanging out in the gym, then maybe 2 hours is for you.

Break into smaller increments, get up earlier and do something active, or do something during lunch, and/or later on go for a swim or do a workout class or cardio machine/strength training, even gardening and walking the dog counts.

I would love to work out 2 hours a day, but with work, commute, kids, husband, volunteer work, it just doesn't happen. I take my 1 hour a day and live with it.

I do one hour after my son leaves on the bus and my daughter is watching Sesame Street. I do another hour before the bus comes in the afternoon and my daughter is on ABCMouse.com. Of course, this is strictly treadmill (with weights.)

Just wondering, why do you WANT to work out 2 hours a day? Is it a weight loss thing or do you just enjoy it that much?
