Had the cataract surgery on the left eye yesterday and, in the exams ahead of it, found out I also have something called Fuchs Dystrophy. Basically, its a progressive condition where the cells behind the cornea stop processing water properly and fluid starts to build up, which means it may take a little longer for me to get clearer vision in the left eye. Have not done the right eye yet, but will shortly I think. Still off work today for the follow up appointment, etc., then I'll decide about tomorrow.
I tried catching up on the thread yesterday on my phone while we were waiting, but wasn't very successful with the dilated eye, etc.
We're going to NJ/NYC metro area soon and I've been wanting to go to the 911 memorial, but the opening of the museum right when we get up there may change my mind, because of crowds. (Really don't care for that!) It is all over the news.... DH and I will have to discuss further. Because we're visiting friends also, I might prefer to save the visit to the memorial for a trip where we fly direct in to NY and stay overnight in the city.
Off to get ready for the day.

Good Morning Ya'll!......new to comment here. I enjoy reading your comments every morning with my first cup of coffee. Great way to get the sand dust out of the eyes. I am so sorry to hear cancer is still sneaking around and stealing away family and friends.I lost my sweetheart of 32 years just 4 years ago and I know all too well the nasty old gray fog that sweeps in the crevices of living. You just have to keep on picking your feet up and pushing forward. It is a pain that can only be repaired thru remembering the memories and honoring the lost love by honoring the memory and relationship...wish you well.
I have moved to the Hill Country of Texas. My sons (one who lives in community near San Diego. Fires are close to him this morning and they are on alert.) I havve changed everything, not to run away, but to be near those grandchildren and family. I did this relunctantly but knowing in my heart I could only find healing in letting them love on me and letting me just consume and bask in the joy of it all.
Now I focus here on MFP to find the me in the ashes of my deep loss. Everyday I find stories here and experiences that encourage . Thanks to all of you out there. Happy trails to everyone0 -
Good morning Beautiful Ladies,
It is another cool and lovely day in Oklahoma. I'm so glad the wind has been calm.
Hubby and I are going to a retirement party this evening for one of my best and oldest friends. We worked together for 30 years and she is retiring just before her 80th birthday. She is the youngest senior I know. I have always said I will never be as young as she is! It will be nice to see some of my former coworkers as well.
NenaC, welcome. You will find lots of support here.:flowerforyou:
Sylvia, hugs for little one with broken arm.

I went to a City meeting last night where a group of Architects & developers from the East Coast provided us with a presentation filled with development ideas for our town. They listened to community suggestions on Monday, and turned it into sketches and proposals for last night. I was interested in their ideas, but my ideas were not included, so One of my gripes was their inclusion of a boardwalk. :noway: Concrete or brick walks, yes, but boards rot too quickly around here. We need to use materials of lasting value. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding and a boardwalk is not actually made of boards. I know I’m picking nits and some of their concepts were actually excellent. This whole process was intended to generate ideas for change, and gave the community a chance to dream together. All in all, it was an interesting opportunity for the community to have a dialog.:flowerforyou:

I am brand new to myfitnesspal. I signed up yesterday. I've been trying to motivate myself through a "ready to lose" program at work, and implemented strategies that I hoped would work...and gained 8 pounds last month. My coach in this program suggested that I sign up for myfitnesspal. So...I am now tracking my calories. I signed up for 3 exercise classes/week - two stability ball and one body sculpting.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to stick with the restricted calorie diet, though. Maybe this program will help me stay motivated...

Hi folks,
I'm on the boat back to Portsmouth, but this is the slowest internet in the world, so I will keep it short.
Had a good time. Cooked some delicious food and ate and drank tooooooo much!
Haven't caught up with posts, but understand there are some horrible fires and a broken arm amongst other things.
We are well.
Speak later and will tell you more.

Hello all! Welcome to the new folks. This is a great group!!
Heidi from the South Shore - yep know that green pollen well! I'm in western MA, so dealing with the same stuff - maple tree pollen. Really glad I don't have any allergies to it - our driveway is covered in green.
Hope all out in the San Diego area are doing all right. My DBIL and family live out that way and their home is OK so far. We don't get enough detail here to tell how close the fire might be to Escondido. Keeping everyone in the fire area in our thoughts an prayers.
Finally back in the swing of things after spending time with DB and DSIL - did pick up a pound or two, but have managed to lose at least one again. Although it's glacially slooooooow, my doctor is very happy with the weight loss so far and my blood sugars are holding steady without medication. Woohoo!!

I live in Massachusetts, where it finally became Spring this week! I work as a PT and group fitness instructor at the YMCA here in my town.
I will try to stop by here again, and often!

Well the saga of our fall vacation planning continues. Yesterday I found a Weather Channel site which showed the average air temp for the Gulf coast in October, high of 77, low of around 69. My daughter send me info that is from the rental agency that shows 83. A little warmer but I also feel they may be a little prejudice toward getting tourists. I called the agency again today and asked them about the bathroom configuration since it is 4 bed, 3 bath. This house has 3 floors, main level has one bedroom and bath, second floor has a master bedroom/ bath and another bed and bath. That leaves the lower level which has the bunk room and no bath. Unfortunately this bunk room would be mine, with no bath, for a 64 year old Mom who gets up 4 times a night to pee. I also asked her what there is for entertainment since my husband does not find the ocean that interesting. Closest place is an hour drive to Panama City.
I can't recall the new person that is a new member that is a trainer at the Y. With the way you look, I would believe anything you told me to, you look fantastic..

Love this group! Count me in.
I'm 52, a professional mom with 15 to lose for summer. (Well, I'd be happy with 10- I think 15 is a pipe dream.) Anyway, I need the support of you women who understand how tough it is to lose this weight at our age.0 -
Hello to all: Went to see my horse and one of the farriers was at the stable. He was looking at my horse while waiting for another and remarked on how good the muscle definition was in her rear end. Wish I could say the same for me.

Will just mark my spot.
Do remember Gail mentioning the new 911 Memorial Museum . Just this morn on "Today" show ,they said 20,000 tickets had been sold. It opens next wk.
Prayers for anyone sick or hurt. Good luck with your food plan. Pat in Oh0 -
I've been keeping up with your posts ... just too busy to post myself.
Praying for all of you with concerns and so very happy and inspired by those with successes!
I'm yo-yo-ing all over the place right now ... emotional eating the cause. Recognizing it is good, but I really wish I would just stop it!
My 16yo son continues to be plagued with migraines. Today his neurologist gave him over 20 injections of Botox in the face, head and neck. Praying this gives him some relief! He's receiving home instruction from the school ... probably until the end of the school year. Hoping they'll get him caught up enough to pass his final exams. We are so in need of a break from all of this!
Rainy here. My trees are just starting to blossom but don't see many bees! That's not good if I want apples and grapes later!
Have a good evening!

It's a chocolate kind of day for me today but I will not succumb. I am watching a movie we recorded when DirectV gave us a free Showtime weekend, Django unchained. We were at Sams tonight to pick up Occuvite. Since we both take it we go through them pretty quick. Well they didn't have any except an Occuvite for 50+. I guess we both qualify for that. But it is a soft gel so is different than what we have now and it was almost $30. there was a Sams brand right next to it but did not list Omega 3 in it. I was going to just buy the Sams brand. So he said 'I don't know what to tell you'. So I picked it up to buy it and he picks the other one up and wants it. So I tell him that he did know what to tell me but was wanting for me to make the same decision he wanted. He jsut can't understand that it frustrates me that he gives me the 'privilege' of making my own decision and then won't let me go that way because it isn't what he wanted me to say. So it's a chocolate kind of night.

Beth, I am so sorry to hear of your son's distress. It resonates with me, as we had a similar situation with our DD ( also 16 now). For six years, she suffered from migraines that kept her in bed in the dark for days at a time. We had to homeschool her just to get by, she missed so much school. I must have spent literally days on the Internet, searching for something that could help her, as well as seeing doctor after doctor. (I could write a book here!)
Just by chance, I stumbled onto something that worked - maybe it can be of use to you. I want to preface this by saying that chiropractic was one of the things we tried for her, and it wasn't particularly helpful, however, there Is a type of chiropractic specialist that studies the atlas bone intensively, and that is the guy who saved the day for us. They are not easy to find, but you can do a search for "atlas orthogonal", and see what comes up.
After one treatment, DD ended six years of misery, and got her life back. That said, she needs to check in with him periodically to keep it up, but she has enjoyed four years without migraines, and the treatment is painless.
Best wishes,
Kayzoola ( PNW USA)0 -
Nena - I hope your son is safe. Welcome!
Gail - so sorry to hear about your eyes. Have fun in NYC
Katla - I wonder if they were thinking of a boardwalk using pressure treated lumber? That wouldn't rot as fast.
Lynn - welcome! Glad your coach pointed you in this direction, you'll find it "addictive". BTW - Looks like I have a sweater just like the one you're wearing. Did you get yours at Kohl's. That's where I got mine
Heather - thanks for popping in. Safe travels. Love hearing from you
Krys - welcome! Which certification do you have?
beachbaby - welcome!
Busy day. Left around 9:15, went to one grocery store for the beer for the chicken, then to the food pantry to take leftover muffins, then volunteered at the Green Room, then to Big Lots to exchange my raft and got another one (I was surprised how few they had. When I bought it, they had a lot), went to get my hair done (they raised the price AGAIN), stopped at the health food store to get wheat bran, stopped at another food store on the way home for peppers and a few other things, came home and had dinner, now getting ready for tomorrow.

How's this for an NSV? I went to buy a new pair of running shoes and no longer needed WIDE shoes! My feet are even thinner!
I'm not going to post the joke today because it contained a bad word. And it wasn't funny.
I went to my friend's house tonight for our little painting party. Had a lot of fun. It's so good to laugh with friends. I painted a landscape with redbud trees and was pretty happy with it.
Beth, I used to get terrible migraines. Haven't had very many since I started taking trazodone for depression. Doc says it's also used for migraines too, so it was a win-win.
Katla, maybe they were going to use that special Trex type lumber for the boardwalk. Then it wouldn't rot at all. Of course, it would cost five times as much.
Good night all!

:flowerforyou: I won two tickets to the pre-screening of "Fed Up". How cool is that. Called into my favourate radio show on the way home from work. Actually tried for several days, and today was my lucky day. Woohoo! Caller # 7 was me! DH and I will be going next week. Google it and you will see it is already playing in the USA.
Today was DD’s last day of work before maternity leave for baby #2. So exciting. On Saturday, my DIL and I are taking her for a spa treatment. Well, it’s a pedicure given her pregnancy state. But we will be able to take advantage of some lunch and the mineral pool. This is instead of a baby shower, given baby #2 is also a boy.
Today was a beautiful spring day and yes, I wore a dress. When I got home, I discovered I had forgotten to put on a bra this morning. How silly. The beautiful details of the dress made up for it…fortunately.
